More ebay sellers using Global Shipping Program Why?, by hippychick on Jan 20, 2020 3:06:13 GMT 1, UK seller here - GSP can take longer and I've had one print out of about 15 lost in transit but the postage costs for fully insured international shipping beat anything I can find through UK shipping/couriers. I know that it's a complete pain if things are coming into the UK if GSP doesn't factor in the 9702 commodity code for reduced rate VAT (where applicable) but, as a UK based seller, I haven't seen the downside for me (yet!).
Oh, and for the print that was lost in transit - full refund from GSP for my buyer with no questions asked and no claim/refund from me.

More ebay sellers using Global Shipping Program Why?, by Rouen Cathedral on Jan 20, 2020 13:18:15 GMT 1, US seller here.. I don’t use GSP cause I know you guys hate it. Afraid between that and honoring “declare low value” requests I’m going to take a big loss one day. Just hope if the day comes you guys appreciate I’m just trying to help and don’t make me eat the loss 😂
If you are selling on eBay you can kiss that dream away.
The only safe way to ship overseas on eBay is the GSP. If that reduces the people that may buy my auction then so be it.
You are lucky if you haven’t been burned yet and hopefully that keeps up. But honestly you will eat that loss on a sale through eBay to a stranger.

This is true. I’m not even sure I can see what the buyer even ends up paying. Maybe there is a way to find it?
That said I always allow offers so if it’s really an issue for a buyer they can reach out and offer with their knowledge of how much shipping is going to cost them.

Surely screen prints would come under fine arts, but a member here said that they received a damaged print and got fully reimbursed. Certainly would have to be careful shipping prints or other art if its in their t&c's.
I will quote myself, as nobody replied to this ^. Anybody ever had any trouble with damaged/lost art they received/sent?

So the seller should be willing to eat that cost if they don't want to take the risk of not selling through GSP.
If you had a $500 item and knew your buyer was paying $200 through GSP when it should really be $50, you're saying you're OK with that? Why rip off the buyer? I'd consider that when listing the item.

More ebay sellers using Global Shipping Program Why?, by Henry Gale Was Here on Jan 20, 2020 21:53:00 GMT 1, The big problem with international selling is the high in comparison postage charges when sending low value items with tracking. When being paid via Paypal, tracking and signed for delivery is a must becaus eof the scammer buyers who receive the package and then make a Paypal claim when it is sent without tracking and as always the onus is on the seller to prove delivery. ^^^ this
I don't think USPS Priority International qualifies for the seller protection on Ebay (please correct me if I'm mistaken), so you'd have to use Global Express Guaranteed, which can be $150+ with insurance. UPS/FedEx are similarly priced, if not more.
So, it is much easier, cheaper, and less stressful for US sellers to just ship to Ebay's domestic GSP hub- once it arrives there, their job is done and no more worrying. US sellers do not even know what the GSP charges the buyer for shipping, nor can they change it (combined shipping, etc).

Sorry, I meant the t&c's for GSP says fine art is prohibited. So to me that would say any damage/loss of prints would not be covered.

That may be what the terms say but I can tell you there was no issue when I received a damaged print. It’s probable they didn’t fully look into it and maybe if it was a 10k claim they would and deny you. But it appears they arent very strict to that term from my experience and what others have shared.
I do believe every shipping service fedex, USPS and UPS also have similar terms regarding ‘fine art’.

That's odd then, as that's what another member said here when they received a damaged print. Maybe like you said, higher value pieces and they could refuse to pay. Bit chancy though for sellers.

But chancy for sellers with any shipping services besides legit fine art shoppers. Read the terms for insurance on USPS, UPS, and Fedex for fine art items.

But GSP open the packages where the others don't. If prints are sent bomb proof and some idiot pulls it out and shoves it back in again, there is a higher chance of damage.

Right but once it gets to the hub the seller is off the hook. Once they open it up and damage it the seller is at no fault.
Yes it stinks that the works are probably more likely to get damaged. But in the eyes of the seller at that point all that matter is the sale.

Unless they point out that fine art is a prohibited item and refuse to pay. Buyers are OK, but way to dodgy for the seller if you ask me.

Once it gets to the domestic hub the seller is safe. Anything after that is on eBay. Safest way for a seller.

Nope! They could refuse to pay.
Prohibited items Any item that is prohibited on eBay can't be sent using the Global Shipping Programme. Other items are also prohibited from the Global Shipping Programme. Fine Art

To date the GSP has paid. I haven’t seen a case they haven’t. I’ve heard about the other services refusing though. That’s my point.

That’s a fair point.
Unfortunately buyers obscene requirements and expectations and fact that they have all the power on eBay over the years has caused sellers to cut bait.

More ebay sellers using Global Shipping Program Why?, by jeffbanks on Sept 27, 2021 19:22:44 GMT 1, Does anyone know how you contact eBay customer services about things damaged in transit?
Sent two prints over to the states in the last few weeks, both damaged.
Now they want to return them, but eBay should be covering damages according to their GSP conditions.
Spent hours trying to find a way to talk to someone today, absolutely horrendous... would appreciate any advice.
Cheers

Spent hours trying to find a way to talk to someone today, absolutely horrendous... would appreciate any advice. Cheers Have to admit I've had problems with the GSP in the past. On one occasion I sent my item to their UK warehouse, it was going to Italy from there. I had confirmation it arrived at the warehouse but then the item could not be delivered - the buyer wasn't in, so the package went to their nearest sorting office. In the meantime the buyer contacted eBay to say the item hadn't arrived and in their wisdom eBay opened a case and took my original payment back! Sadly it took many many phone calls (think you can request a call back from eBay staff) In the meantime the buyer collected the item but eBay would not make the repayment to me until after about a month and much perseverance, it finally went to the right department. It was a mess and to be honest it seriously puts me off using GSP - abysmal customer service. My issue throughout was that as far as I was concerned once the item arrived in the warehouse I was no longer responsible for delivery - unfortunately didn't work like that😩

If shipped through GSP, the buyer should be escalating a claim with eBay, not through you.
Does anyone know how you contact eBay customer services about things damaged in transit? Sent two prints over to the states in the last few weeks, both damaged. Now they want to return them, but eBay should be covering damages according to their GSP conditions. More ebay sellers using Global Shipping Program Why?, by u%hdjfka c on Sept 27, 2021 22:29:12 GMT 1, Hate it as it will not recognise the Isle of Man even though we are bloody UK. I’ve had so many sellers refund as the system just won’t recognise it or if simply tells me the item cannot be shipped to my location, stupid! I’ve had stuff from the US, Australia and Europe with no issues but have to just avoid GSP items now as it’s too much hassle. Isle of Man is not in the UK.

That’s fine, we are the same cost postage wise as the UK and my point is EBay’s Global Shipping Programme does not recognise the Isle of Man full stop.

Thanks, yes they are... the way it pans out though is that eBay force you to accept the return (if you don't within a day or two they just refund the buyer).
But then when you accept the return you then become responsible for getting the item back to the UK. Also even if I get the item back, it's going to be damaged... so at what point does eBay step in if they, and I quote 'You aren't responsible for item loss or damage that occurs after the item reaches the UK Shipping Centre.'
The main thing I think is how the hell do you talk to anyone at eBay.? At best I've managed to chat to a pop up AI that just doesn't understand the nuance of the matter, or is programmed to misunderstand...
Cheers!

Sent two prints over to the states in the last few weeks, both damaged. Now they want to return them, but eBay should be covering damages according to their GSP conditions. Spent hours trying to find a way to talk to someone today, absolutely horrendous... would appreciate any advice. My issue throughout was that as far as I was concerned once the item arrived in the warehouse I was no longer responsible for delivery - unfortunately didn't work like that😩 Hey Concrete Jungle,
Thanks for your help.
If you have any idea how you get a call back from eBay I'd be grateful. Google is leading me down blind alleys.
Ta!
