New Banksy, Marsh Lane, Barton Hill, Bristol, by Terry Fuckwitt on Feb 15, 2020 14:26:07 GMT 1, This was covered with perspex at one point and that was torn off. Surprised you can still see any of it at this stage tbh. Not sure if this was aimed just at the council (re: BCC) or against the preservation of Banksy's works by the council. Plenty of people round here with an axe to grind on both.
That confused me, thought I saw perspex a few hours after being discovered. I'm surprised the flowers are still there to be honest.

New Banksy, Marsh Lane, Barton Hill, Bristol, by GMA on Feb 15, 2020 15:49:23 GMT 1, Shame that's happened, always does though. If I was the owners I'd have probably paid for some heavy duty protection that would take some doing to remove.

Sick, sick, sick - bloody idiots and jealousies make me sick. Also, all the questions of what a piece is worth also makes me sick - all I would want is a 'real' Banksy to cherish and stuff the 'worth' and yes MONEY makes me sick too

I hear what you are saying and I admire the passion with which you say it. I agree with you regarding the obsession with value that is so prevalent here. But as for the tagging of the Banksy piece, it really doesn’t bother me that much. It’s the ephemeral nature of street art that it isn’t preserved; it isn’t in a museum; it gets tagged, weathered and broken. Tagging becomes part of the piece’s history. I would much much much rather this than the piece being placed behind Perspex, or being cut out of the wall.

I reckon Banksy would love it, a bit of tagging against the establishment,... in this case Bristol City Council.
I think its always nice to get good art saved for future generations but that does somewhat take away from the romanticism of street art. The magic of walking past a piece day by day slowly fading.. until a new piece arrives and you have the joy of a new work to take in.

I agree. After witnessing the depressing s**t show after the Port Talbot, I would much rather see this piece tagged over.
Fuck perspex. Fuck cutting it out of the wall. Just let it live.

Surely that is just going to encourage more damage being done to it. Its almost inviting it.

Copyright and the Berne Convention and DMCA takedown notice aside. Alledgedly, Banksy has created and enforced copyright on his official instagram which requires a photo i:d etc. In theory, unknowing buyers could buy this card with stolen image on it and when they realise that FCB did not have written permission to reproduce and sell this image. They are entitled to make a Paypal claim for a refund.
