Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by Graham H on Mar 20, 2020 12:43:59 GMT 1, Why on earth at this time would anyone have any interest in conspiracy theories??.. bonkers
I hope everyone is healthy and safe out there... but are there no other forums where you guys can share your conspiracy theories? This is all over the news and web anyways and this is one of the places which could give us at least a bit of distraction.

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by embee on Mar 20, 2020 12:51:13 GMT 1, I imagine it must be really awful being isolated in a mansion in the sunshine with a full kitchen and a pool ...ah bless. However that is NO excuse for this massive monstrosity of noise made by a collection of the worlds most over inflated ego's. Completely unnecessary. I would say more ear bleeding than heart warming. The lack of self-awareness it takes to sing along to "imagine no possessions" as you dance around the back garden of your $25m home as some way of lifting the spirits of hundreds of thousands (millions) of people who are very suddenly extremely worried about ongoing basics like food and shelter (let alone health) is... I don't know. It's actually quite an achievement.
On the plus side - plenty of fantastic parodies out there.

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by Wearology on Mar 20, 2020 16:35:36 GMT 1, There are some really thought provoking articles available online about what the art market was before the virus struck the planet and what could happen in the aftermath. It seems that the general consensus is that this virus will wipe out the mediocre art that was being manipulated and genuinely lacked artistic substance and be replaced with better more substantive art that is culturally relevant with an underlying artistic skill set.

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by storm breaker on Mar 20, 2020 16:57:52 GMT 1, ย Wishful thinking surely. Mediocrity is in the eye of the beholder. Whatโs the saying? One manโs trash is another manโs treasure? Art has and will ALWAYS will be apart of human culture. And not just paintings And sculptures. Music, books, movies and ideas are all art and I imagine the art world is churning out some great ideas behind locked doors right now. Iโm excited to see those ideas come to pass. Hell, FAKE already did a really strong tribute piece for free and posted it for us. Artists also have the POWER to create art in their labs to sell for charity to donate to hospitals and nurses to get them things they need like respirators, masks and gloves. Personally, Iโd like to see more of that. As a collector, I see that not only stimulating the art market, but keeping goodwill in the forefront of the brain of all of those their art reaches. But thatโs just my opinion. I know someone is just chomping at the bit to have me banned for it. ๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by storm breaker on Mar 20, 2020 17:26:44 GMT 1, Thank goodness for the block member option though ๐ I donโt personally block people as I donโt live in a bubble and I donโt need to hide from opinions I donโt align with. I enjoy them as itโs called acceptance. Something the world needs more of. Blocking is like putting ur head in the sand and pretending the world isnโt on fire around you. Being able to have civil conversations and broaden ur mind is kind of the only way to have acceptance to shape a better future. This thought process is exactly whatโs wrong with the world. Or do you not see that seems to be the theme of Banksyโs work? Acceptance vs Destruction? Itโs comedy when I see a banksy fan like LCal or whoever he is w/ bomb hugger as his avatar and hatred as his motto. Seems rather ironic, donโt u think? Free thinking and acceptance should be what we all embrace. If not, ur apart of whatโs wrong with the world and need to take a long look in the mirror.
Bore off!

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by wrigs on Mar 20, 2020 18:45:05 GMT 1, No,ย I honestly didn't. A lot of what you write is very Trumpy So who is your guy for the next American boss man? We have no good choices. Itโs sad. If u REALLY want to know Iโm an independent, somewhat of a libertarian and a constitutionalist. What does that mean? I despise politicians and feel we donโt need nearly as many. People are soo hell bent on all sides of the aisle trying to take away each others rights it leaves us all w/ a shell of what freedom once was. Itโs silly. When our country was founded, it had a constitution. that was built on nipping the machine that big govt had become, in the bud, to try to stop it from repeating, to the best of their ability, an environment for future generations to come, where that could happen. It wasnโt perfect, we had racism and feminism that were issues. But, we also were on the forefront of giving women and those of other views equal rights and we still need to build on that. But right now, repubs and Dems pretty much just write laws taking away rights as jabs at each other, f**kingus all over. I donโt support that. So who is ur man? Biden the forgetful or trump the narcissist? ๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ If anything, the 1% of Britain fucked America up when they brought slaves here. And through much internal battle, we nipped that issue in the bud too. For my Irish and Scot brothers out there that have FORGOTTEN history. England first banned slaves of their own people, predominantly my ancestors in those countries. As they were thought of as lesser men. When that was banned they had to outsource. All slavery was banned eventually and the East Indian trade company worked outside those laws to buy and steal slaves from Africa. East Indian trade company of course being championed by the British 1 percenters. ๐ And for those who hate American gun culture. It was put in place in case we needed to revolt against the machine and have Boston tea party 2.0.
You have a funny grasp of history ๐ Good luck with your tea party 2.0. As Jim Jefferies once said โyouโll be bringing guns to a drone partyโ

We need art of course, but to have the heart with , and I am sorry, Iโm confined as a lot of French ( and worldwide ) people too, and I can answer to Banksy GDP question: (why ) does art matter? I think they are referring to hydroxychloroquin. It's an anti malaria drug that acts as an anti inflammatory and will reduce lung inflammation.

No. Dead times
Bro, with an attitude like that why get out of bed in the morning? Art matters precisely because of these things, it brings a little bit of magic to a tragic world otherwise what is the point of life other than to suffer.
Iโm really surprised how this forum can still talk, post or exchange about art ! There will be a โbefore and afterโ Coronavirus, even on art effect and/or market. In these times of confinement, thinking about Italy and all this misery, tragedy all around the world ( migrants, poor people, disease etc ),I wonder how could art resist ?! We need art of course, but to have the heart with , and I am sorry, Iโm confined as a lot of French ( and worldwide ) people too, and I can answer to Banksy GDP question: (why ) does art matter? No. Dead times Bro, with an attitude like that why get out of bed in the morning? Art matters precisely because of these things, it brings a little bit of magic to a tragic world otherwise what is the point of life other than to suffer.
