Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by tab1 on Mar 22, 2020 2:23:01 GMT 1, No brexit trades deals put in place or made , eu already changed laws to provide priority to member Eu countries for medical supplies next if this becomes long term with many borders closed they will prioritise certain food products , pre brexit plans would only work by stockpiling supplies , this has totally caught the uk out and no stockpiles have been made , also limited personnel in Europe working to supply docks . Constant panic buying all around the world , supplies chains breaking as of sickness and border controls . People seeing news coverage of empty shelves and prompts more to panic buy . Now people driving to out of town supermarkets for supplies . The government has not handled this well, Will just miss my fresh juice , but have plenty of frozen fruit for some smoothies 😋

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by Jeezuz Jones Snr on Mar 22, 2020 5:06:40 GMT 1, Here in Australia looks like the states are pressuring the government to shut down. Good news as it’s the only way it will get contained. Funny only last Sunday our muppet of a prime minister was saying just to avoid shaking hands and we’ll be fine 😳, he’s fecking useless!! They just don’t want to go into recession and putting economy first. Be good for the country to have a reset and hopefully lower the greed 👍

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by wrigs on Mar 22, 2020 10:25:59 GMT 1, Anyone seen video on Facebook , Slough Tesco one of the largest in uk , food shelves all bare The government advice to stop panic buying and social distancing is not working Italian type policing is needed before gets out of control Top crime in London of rolex muggings will be replaced by grocery bag muggings. If things crash like Italy people will mostly be concerned for themselves , stockpiling to save going out in public even if you are allowed , when the situation gets worse , the worse place to be will be supermarkets People stuck at home with infections , not knowing then on ,mass shopping and scrambling over each other to grab items 👀🙄 Even alcohol sections selling out I think the bare shelves are a greater london thing. We’re pretty bare but still have most stuff here in Reading. But as you go west to Wales theres more available. Ive heard people in Edinburgh saying shops are mostly fine there too. Any Welsh or Scots able to confirm what im saying? Some items fully sold out but on the whole theres enough to provide sustenance.
Yeah it’s not that bad here in Bristol. Popped into Sainsbury’s to grab some cat food yesterday and car park was quite empty. Shelves fairly bare but you wouldn’t be going hungry let’s put it that way. Hopefully now all the bellends have stocked up for the next 3yrs there may be some left for the rest of us who are trying to be sensible

Your advise to 'stockpile what you need' goes against everything we should be doing. I would say most people needs at this time are going to be very similar. Canned foods, long life foods, toilet rolls, medicines etc. I'm not sure where you are from, but these are all the items that are out of stock in most supermarkets near me.

Ps Fantastic new street piece Fake👍

Lack of stock of most things the day before shutdown, but seemed that supermarkets warehouses were high, and everything went "back to normal". There is still things that finishes in a few hours after opening, but they are replaced the same day or the day after. My sister-in-law Works in a food Factory and they are working extra shifts and weekends to replace. There are lot of heros beside sanitary people (front line and in biggest danger) as food factories, supermarkets, transportations, pólice and military… many people risking their own to help us all. Thanks to all of them

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by tab1 on Mar 22, 2020 13:27:42 GMT 1, If you noticed all countries have given the public advice But the majority do not listen and partial shut down and lock downs have to be implemented The food situations in lockdown countries have improved as it has limited numbers to be able to go out as mostly needed passes to venture out . Prime example bondi beach Australia ,public given advice to distance of 2m and public literally on top of each other . Everywhere where public are not enforced to comply people do the opposite of the advice given ,
People are seeing empty shelves which are prompting everyone to do the same .
The processing plants and warehouses of these stocks may be shut down , countries may be limiting exports soon, drivers in supply chain becoming sick .
The government should implement the stockpiling of their warehouses as per per brexit plans

Half the world is not taking this seriously Even when everyone was told pubs would shut on Friday All the younger generation when out to party , they live at home with their parents mostly and siblings , not caring that they could possibly get infected and pass to their whole family who Are inturn still at work so the spread continues

I’d like to challenge you to post something positive or hopeful.
There are lots of issues and angles to this situation but Im tending to think that at the end of the day the British people will pull together and help each other out. The food hoarding is likely a short term thing and many shops are returning to mostly normal supply levels. There is currently no indication that there will be significant disruption to supply chains.
I get that you’re being a realist but at this time we need calm heads and optimistic messages.

Something positive for you, people not being selfish and helping life 👍

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by embee on Mar 22, 2020 15:13:39 GMT 1, Variety of regional leaders and governments of various levels (e.g. London Mayor, Welsh Govt etc among many others) here in the UK today out in force with the same message. Essentially; Stay home, stay inside, stay off transport, keep apart - or else we'll have no choice but to enforce it. Seems to me that's obviously a coordinated message, and I'd think we'll have the enforced 'lockdown' by Wednesday at the latest, if not much earlier. Good.

And will create a last stampede to hoard items , clearly self governing is not working and policing unfortunately is needed , public were given a chance but how many do not listen to advice , even in Italy and Spain where compulsory isolation some people are still flouting restrictions and jogging solely and in groups , but they are now arrested . big social experiment ,shut the internet down and regain family interactions and values 😁
Variety of regional leaders and governments of various levels (e.g. Good. Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by pellets on Mar 22, 2020 15:45:38 GMT 1, You can worn people all you want but unless Boris declares a lockdown many won't listen. I'm sitting in my house and have watched neighbour's go out, people walking past - often in groups- its like they refuse to believe. If you look at the trajectory we are on course to be worse than Italy and I'm scared it's already too late to reverse. Its frightening!!
Wait, but the social distancing does leave room for someone to go out and walk the dog or for a person to go for a run on their own, right? As long as you dont interact with anyone and wash your hands/clothes when you get home.
Isolated yourself and only go out for essential things like food shopping or a quick walk/run to get fresh air and move your body. Or have I got it wrong?

In Greece as well it seems that people don't get it. Going out to the parks, to the beach, to the mountains, to their villages and the islands. We are reading on the press today that we are hours away from a total lock down that will be imposed and only through an sms one will be able to leave the premises of ones apartment: for going to work, supermarket or pharmacy. Challenging times. I hope everyone here is safe and stays that way.
