Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by LJCal on Apr 25, 2020 0:31:46 GMT 1, Here are the official Coronavirus guidelines: 1. Basically, you can't leave the house for any reason, but if you have to, then you can. 2. Masks are useless. But they will protect you. They can save you, no they canโt, theyโre useless, but wear one anyway. Now theyโre mandatory. But maybe. Or not. 3. Stores are closed, except for the ones that are open. 4. You should not go to the hospital unless you have to go there. Stay out of the ER at all costs unless youโre having a medical emergency then itโs okay. 5. This virus is deadly but still not too scary, except that sometimes it actually leads to a global disaster. Stay calm. 6. Gloves won't help, but they can still help. Especially if you wear the same pair for hours and everywhere you go, then you can not spread germs, nope. #science 7. Everyone needs to stay home, but it's important to go out because sun. Sunlight will kill the virus but not if the virus kills you first by walking in the sunlight where you may be exposed to the virus. 8. There is no shortage of groceries in the supermarket, but there are many things missing when you go there in the evening, but not in the morning. Sometimes. 9. The virus has no effect on children except those it has affected or will affect. 10. Animals are not affected, but there is still a cat that tested positive in Belgium in February when no one had been tested yet, and a tiger.. and one really deadly but also possibly fictional but very sick bat. 11. You will have many symptoms when you are sick, but you can also get sick without symptoms, have symptoms without being sick, or be contagious without having symptoms. 12. In order not to get sick, you have to eat well and exercise, but also never go out to the grocery store so eat shelf stable processed crap and stay inside your four walls but also stay healthy. 13. It's better to get some fresh air, but you may be arrested if youโre getting fresh air the wrong way and most importantly, don't go to a park, the fresh air there is deadly. 14. Under no circumstances should you go to retirement homes, but if you have to take care of the elderly and bring them food and medication then fine. Just wear gloves. The same ones. All day. 15. If you are sick, you can't go out, but you can go to the pharmacy to get your medications. Just donโt make eye contact cause you may spread your sickness that way. 16. You can get restaurant food delivered to the house, which may have been prepared by people who didn't wear masks or gloves. But you have to leave your groceries outside for 3 hours to be decontaminated by the fresh air that also may have virus particles floating around in it. 17. Taxi drivers are immune to the virus apparently since you can still take a taxi ride with a random taxi driver. Just donโt take the taxi to your momโs house because you know. Stay away from your mom. 18. You can walk around with a friend if you stay six feet apart but donโt visit with your family if they don't live under the same roof as you. Even if youโve all been locked inside for two months already. You may still have the virus and just not know it yet. Youโll find out. Wait another week. Wasnโt that week? Might be the next one. Keep waiting. 19. You are safe if you maintain the appropriate social distance, but you canโt go out with friends or strangers at the safe social distance. Social distancing means you shouldnโt leave your house and donโt be social, except you may go to the liquor store but donโt socialize there while youโre being socially distant. 20. The virus remains active on different surfaces for two hours, no, four, no, six, no, we didn't say hours, maybe days? But it takes a damp environment. Oh no, not necessarily. 21. The virus stays in the air - well no, or yes, maybe, especially in a closed room, in one hour a sick person can infect ten, so if it falls, all our children were already infected at school before it was closed. But remember, if you stay at the recommended social distance, however in certain circumstances you should maintain a greater distance, which, studies show, the virus can travel further, maybe. 22. We count the number of deaths but we don't know how many people are infected as we have only tested so far those who were "almost dead" to find out if that's what they will die ofโฆ 23. The virus will only disappear if we achieve collective immunity.. but stay inside until the virus disappears. 24. If you are out; look down at the ground because if you make eye contact and say hello then youโll definitely get it. Maybe. These are the minutes from the governments daily 5pm press briefings I think. Thank God they are being led by the science.

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by mw on Apr 25, 2020 0:33:14 GMT 1, I agree that mask wearing will help to contain spread, but as seen elsewhere it's the volume of testing and contact tracing that really helps.
We're slowly getting there, but having a test that's only about 75% accurate definitely won't help. Nor will everyone thinking that because deaths are probably past their peak then life can resume again. Any relaxation in attitudes now would prove disastrous in 3/4 weeks time.

I agree with like 99% of your usual posts but will have to politely disagree with this one. I dont think the government is providing vague advice because it hates the British public or is trying to be deceptive or incompetent. I think the reality is we have very few facts right now and the government has to give general advice to c.70m people. It would be impossible to write guidance that addresses every single scenario c.70m people would run into everyday so general advice is given. People have to apply common sense and act with consideration towards others. There has only been one small study of how long the virus lasts on various surfaces. Reviews of other illness transmission indicate wearing masks is not that effective at stopping the spread but may still be effective to some degree. It seems the primary method of transmission is droplets from an infected person so social distancing is the best strategy with all additional measures being marginal (though there is not much data on how marginal). There are veryhalf few facts and lots of educated guesses being made. It will take a long time for us to have the full picture of primary methods of transmission, the true infection rate and mortality rate and the best methods of protecting vulnerable people and the population at large. I hope you are staying safe and washing your gloves...or whatever it is weโre supposed to be doing... If you genuinely believe that the purpose of the advice being put out by the government is to protect people then you havenโt been paying attention. These decisions and advice are based upon what the half wit inbred minister on the day considers to be the best politically for the Tory party. Public interest will always come second with these Oxbridge fuck boys in charge.

Okay, agree to agree.
Ive watched about three of the governmentโs daily briefings but there is plenty of other information out there about how best to conduct oneself.
I imagine people normally dont listen to the governmentโs advice so why start now. Listen to the scientists and epidemiologists instead.

I personally find myself engaging every few days but i need to have days off. I applaud your endurance but i cant spend hours everyday reading about it. I keep up to date but not daily.
This whole thing has been very illuminating about which newspapers and journalists are legit and which are pumping out click bait.

This whole thing has been very illuminating about which newspapers and journalists are legit and which are pumping out click bait. with the use of the internet we are not stuck listening to one sided news as from previous decades and in a situation like this I do believe there is information being with held from the public and with death a possibility To all would like to be more aware of the situation And find factual positives as most Being released are negatives . The longer this proceeds there will be many leaks from individuals from various departments unhappy the way this is being controlled ,managed and inactions taken

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by mojo on Apr 25, 2020 10:09:46 GMT 1, Here are the official Coronavirus guidelines: 1. Maybe. I hope that was cathartic to write, it certainly reads like it was. There are very few facts and lots of educated guesses being made. It will take a long time for us to have the full picture of primary methods of transmission, the true infection rate and mortality rate and the best methods of protecting vulnerable people and the population at large. I hope you are staying safe and washing your gloves...or whatever it is weโre supposed to be doing... Just for clarity I didn't write this I just cut & paste it, however I can see what the person that wrote it is getting at, the misinformation floating around is catastrophic and so muddled the only way to view it is from a Monty Python/Chris Morris perspective if only to keep ones sanity. What I find more interesting right now is who is behind the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage). Who are Scientific Advisory Group? LINK

There must be enough data now On different groups of ethnicities To understand the effects with dna &rna with the virus mutations and transmission Also the underlying health issueS and immune systems to produce Statistics to give each groups a probability of the virus being fatal or not to then allow The isolations to drop then allow people To make Their own informed choices Of actions as presently nothing to prevent or slow down the virus with drugs and vaccine not looking likely to be developed soon and with a vaccine to be released globally no short cuts should be taken as longer term could cause greater issues not seen in trials .Presently talks of restarting the economy with no Effective plans that can contain the spread of the virus .Countries releasing isolations Now will likely be back in the news in two months as of increased deaths . If no immunity is found naturally and no vaccine found the virus could keep mutating to eventually wipe out a figure not discussed

If no immunity is found naturally and no vaccine found the virus could keep mutating to eventually wipe out a figure not discussed It's still too early to give exact probabilities for certain groups particularly as they're not all mutually exclusive. There's not huge numbers of immunosuppressed succumbing as they seem to have done a very good job at self isolating, even before lockdown. Cardiovascular issues seem to be more prominent, with obesity a particular marker. Everyone is still on such a sharp learning curve and the reaction to ongoing observations needs to be noted and acted upon. E.G. Clotting and Kidney failure. etc
Lists of vulnerable groups are still being assembled, but the government guidelines are so broad there's no differentiation between mild asthma and high blood pressure/diabetes in the mid tier.
The numbers returning to work are increasing. Some of it is need, some the realisation that life can't stop completely for the next few years. It's going to be hard for the vulnerable groups......get ready for christmas dinner with masks on in the garden.

With 6 months passing , who Organisations and infectious disease department and the U.K. Pandemic preparedness and biosecurity policies ask for data from all countries / emerging countries infected to share All data on any new infectious pandemics , surely with the whole world infected the government will have a stack of data and useful information they could release to the public if decisions are being made to release the public back to work ?thereby not just having to rely on U.K. data alone. But also presents a stronger case to carry out more testing in the uk

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by Javier on Apr 26, 2020 10:08:18 GMT 1, Two weeksโ quarantine if travelling to the UK. What brilliant idea, shame only everybody but the government thought of it before now.
Am I wrong or the uk is one of the most infectious places in the world? Maybe it would be better to make the quarantine for those who go outside...

The Koreans have been doing this for yonks, ยฃ1,000 charge and 2 weeks in a hotel for all foreigners. They can trust their own to isolate sensibly, can we?

All counties must collaborate and do it together. Will turn a 2 week holiday into rather a protracted affair!

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by tab1 on Apr 26, 2020 13:12:40 GMT 1, As UK hospital deaths pass 20,000 Priti Patel uses government daily briefing to boast about a huge decline in shoplifting. Todayโs briefing will no doubt focus on the decline in violence at football matches and fights in pubs.
As nothing positive to come to light The government are and will further use the crime statistics to draw people on board .using The fear factor of crime but in these circumstances all theses figures would drop naturally Ideally government departments would want this period to be drawn out as makes the task easier to pick out organised crime And with limited border movements can close down organised trafficking of all types of goods. These crime groups are Making the most Movements and are easily traceable and would stand out more as less background populations out presently . Think at present the only news most of the public wants to hear is advances in health

Farmers are chartering planes and flying over Romanians to here as there are not enough people in the UK to do this job? Or could it be we are all far too important to be doing jobs like this? Not sure which one it is?

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by Terry Fuckwitt on Apr 27, 2020 11:57:17 GMT 1, Farmers are chartering planes and flying over Romanians to here as there are not enough people in the UK to do this job? Or could it be we are all far too important to be doing jobs like this? Not sure which one it is?
I'll go for option B, we don't like hard manual work for little money๐ Buy why don't they offer these jobs to ones that are now claiming universal credit? I think the furlough system is great to keep everyone in a job when/if things get back to normal. Not sure I agree though, that furloughed workers can get two wages while others now don't even have a job.

None of us can move with the lockdown yet a plane load of people can be flown in from abroad to work.
