Recommended Art Books, by Feral Things on Jul 26, 2016 17:23:48 GMT 1, 'Twinkles' by Miss Van was published in 2011 and features work from the previous three years. This was the period when her work evolved into the darker, richer and more melancholic style she has been refining ever since. The book includes over 80 large scale pages of her work. Also worth picking up is 'Wild At Heart' which includes photos of her trip down the Pacific Coast and it was the catalogue for her 2013 show of the same name.

Recommended Art Books, by Coach on Jul 29, 2016 21:48:31 GMT 1, This book will interest anyone with fond memories of the free party and illegal rave scene. There are also quite a few photographs that include tags and scrawled graffiti, for those of us that like that sort of thing. Out Of Control. Just under 450 pages. Just photographs, no text, save for location and date. It's the accumulation of one photographer's ten year documentation of the scene. Quote from a raver: "the images contained within summon you into the party like a slow motion glitch in the mainframe; this is where you can smell the rave and feel the base."

Delighted. The photographs in this book are superb, and so very much better than the one I shared. I didn't feel comfortable sharing most of the pictures showing the party goers, as it seemed a little rude to do so.

Cheers fella. Hadn't seen that video before. It does give you a good idea of what the book is like.

Recommended Art Books, by Feral Things on Aug 3, 2016 8:29:36 GMT 1, Any recommandation on abstract or graffuturism must-have book ? In no particular order these would be my top recommendations for graffuturism/abstract graffiti related books...
- 'Futurism 2.0' by Gamma Proforma is probably currently the best book out there about graffuturism. The book is being republished and is available to pre-order here but the book won't actually ship until November.
- 'Abstract Graffiti' by Cedar Lewisohn is both broad and very well written; there's some photos and a bit of info about the book in the first post of this thread here.
- 'Now' by Stohead was the catalogue for his show at Galerie le Feuvre from a couple of years ago and I think it really coincided with a sweet-spot in his career; the catalogue is available here.
- 'Stendhal Syndrome' by Katrin Fridriks is her first monograph but, unfortunately, its release has been repeatedly delayed (October 2016 is the current release date). A copy was available to peruse at her last show and it looked beautiful; you might still be able to preorder a signed copy from Lazarides.
- 'Futura' by Ben Drury. This is still the only monograph from the godfather of abstract graffiti; a new book was supposed to be published a few years ago but unfortunately it never materialised.
- 'The Chronicles' by Jonone is excellent but very expensive to get hold of at the moment, so it might be worth waiting until the English edition is released later this year.
- 'Graffuturism: LA Exhibition Catalogue' is still the only book actually released by Graffuturism but I understood that Poesia was working on a comprehensive book which would be fantastic.

Recommended Art Books, by The True Cubs Fan on Sept 30, 2016 1:20:10 GMT 1, I know this might be a little off topics, but I was looking for another Street Art magazine and wanted to see if anyone had a suggestion?
I currently subscribe to VNA, Street Art and More (Fantastic little publication) and Eye (which is more design based and oriented). Does anyone love subscribing to Juxtapoz or High Fructose? Any other suggestions?
TIA!

Recommended Art Books, by Feral Things on Oct 4, 2016 18:25:07 GMT 1, I know this might be a little off topics, but I was looking for another Street Art magazine and wanted to see if anyone had a suggestion? Juxtapoz is excellent and if you subscribe you get a different cover to the regular newsstand version (if you're into that sort of thing). Hi-Fructose has more of a lean towards pop-surrealism/lowbrow art.
I would also recommend Graffiti Art Magazine which is run by the guys from Galerie Openspace and covers a lot of the European scene that doesn't get much of a mention here. They also publish an annual guide that is half way between a book and a magazine and provides a good overview of some of the artists that have been active recently.

I'll definitely look into Juxtapoz, thanks for the clarification on the difference between them and Hi-Fructose.
Graffiti Art Magazine looks fantastic! Quick q, are they in French? Or is each magazine printed in both French and English? I haven't gotten a reply yet from their team.
