Recommended Art Books, by Coach on May 16, 2016 19:58:13 GMT 1, ' 2004-2007' by Blu don't contain any writing and instead the work of one of the very best is allowed to just speak for itself.ย The books contains many of his stretches and photos of the walls he painted in those years.ย I completely understand why artists like Blu and Bร nksy don't really sell their work publicly anymore but it'd be great if they did books covering the last 10 years of the work which would then be accessible and affordable for everyone - just a thought!ย Blu has also done another book though called Nulla and a zine with Ericailcane called 25 Disegni.   Have been looking for this book for a while now.If anyone has one for sale please pm me..cheers.
Try calling Laz. They had stacks of them for sale at a reduced price during the recent print show.

Recommended Art Books, by Feral Things on May 23, 2016 18:41:57 GMT 1, 'Subway' by Bruce Davidson features the Magnum-photographer's work shot on the New York subway in the early 1980s. There's a only a few bits of graffiti like a Seen wholecar and some of Keith Hร ring's chalk drawings but, apart from them being incredible photographs in their own right, the work also provides the context for what Dondi, Lee and co. were doing at the time. It seemed like a good time to post this as he has a retrospective opening later this week at Fundaciรณn MAPFRE in Madrid. Another great book for providing context is Martha Cooper's 'Hip Hop Files: Photographs 1979-1984' which documents all four elements of hip hop during this period.

It's a fantastic book and the one I'd recommend over the others I've seen on the subject of street/urban art. The publishers (Gestalten) also published another of similar size and quality called Walls and Frames

I think collaborations can often result in the artists just diluting what is great about the other artist's work. But then you get something like Wrinkles in the City that just feels perfect and is more than the sum of its parts. Parlรก's monographs are a bit unnecessarily expensive but 'Walls, Diaries and Paintings' is a more affordable option and a good place to start:
There's also a beautiful little film of the Wrinkles in the City project which is 30 minute well spent:

The book includes, amongst many other projects, her early paper-cuts around New York, her first show at Deitch Projects, the Miss Rockaway project and her work connected with the Mexican femicide. Collaboration is central to Swoon's artistic practice, so it's nice that the book includes lots of photos of this context. Surprisingly, this is the only monograph which Swoon has released so far but there's some beautiful photos of her Swimming Cities project in Todd Seelie's 'Bright Nights', which is a great book in its own right.

The pick of the years was 2002 which included Banksy, Os Gรชmeos and Alรซxone, as well as German artists like SatOne, Stohead and Hendrik Beikirch. The books provide a nice mix of studio work and street work and you can see how much all the artists' work has progressed and changed during the intervening period. There were also books published for the 2000 and 2001 exhibitions and all three can be viewed online here.

It was created by Faile between 2005 and 2009 and features four prints each by a pretty stellar lineup of artists including Blu, Swoon and Miss Van. All the contributions are bound together into one volume but you can unscrew the binding to remove individual pages. Some of the prints, like those by Futura and Judith Supine, are signed and some other prints, like those by PINS and Bรคst, are hand-finished. Love Sour Love followed on from four thematic books which Faile produced prior to 2004; 'Death' and 'Orange' (produced for friends and family) and 'Lavender' and 'Boredom' (which were limited edition releases):
