I bought it from amazon after someone recommended it here the other day. I didn't know it was on TV and watched my dvd last night🙄 What a great collection Stefann and Gael had, mind blowing! Amazing that they donated $500 million dollars of their collection to the Chicago Gallery. Sadly, I hear he died last year.

A great art programme , by Love Is In The Air on Apr 28, 2020 10:57:58 GMT 1, Thanks for posting that John, will have a watch this week at some point for sure.
Most people will have seen these but seeing as they kind of fit in this thread, thought I would mention couple of other art bits of TV online.
Andy Warhol - 7 mins about the Tate Modern exhibition most of us will probably never see now
www.tate.org.uk/whats-on/tate-modern/exhibition/andy-warhol/exhibition-guide
And a Harland Miller video made for his York retrospective. 11 mins and quite interesting about his background
If anyone spots any other art stuff worth watching, please keep sharing the links like John did as plenty of time in the evenings to watch TV atm! Cheers

A great art programme , by churchwood on Apr 28, 2020 12:18:07 GMT 1, Thanks both - have the Warhol taped (is that even a thing now) but missed the first one, hopefully on iPlayer.
just watched the short Miller piece. Really interesting and although I have never met him, HM seems like a seriously laid back and charismatic chap - potential work in the voice-over and audiobook market by the bucketload

A great art programme , by John The Badgers on Apr 28, 2020 18:45:37 GMT 1, Thanks for all the above, and a great idea from Loveisintheair, would certainly appreciate any recommendations, that Miller interview certainly worth a watch by the way.
As to last nights programme, found it fascinating when the artists questioning values of their own work? The part where Richter a bit bemused as to values, then seeing how markets forcing value for peoples gain, very thought provoking here.
Pretty new to this, but would certainly recommend a watch.

A great art programme , by wrigs on Apr 29, 2020 7:55:11 GMT 1, Best bit is the clip of the awful women from the auction house going on about how much the Gerhard Richter will make selling to a private individual then cuts to Gerhard Richter having a conversation saying how the works should be for the masses and crazy how much they are worth.

A fascinating insight into the art world, and a lot of artists featured mentioned on here. Watched this last night and as John says, fascinating insight.
For those who have watched it I wondered if there was an equivalent to Larry Poons in the Street Art world or maybe even the print world now.....someone who refused to stick to a style appreciated by critics/buyers and refused to keep doing the same thing, only for his popularity(and prices) to wane for a long period?

While watching it he reminded me a lot of Richard Hambleton. I think they have very similar characteristics and both very 'real' artists. Richard moved away from shadow paintings to do the 'beautiful paintings'. I suppose the old street art favourite Dolk could be in the process of this at the moment. He put away his stencil blades and picked up his keys to scratch car panels. A drastic change and you rarely see anything of his new work mentioned now.

A great art programme , by John The Badgers on Apr 29, 2020 14:06:02 GMT 1, Good point Terryfuckwitt, and that was the contrast I found between the artists very fascinating.
Mixed in with the very obvious commercialism on show, made a thought provoking watch.
I personally like to see/am intrigued when artists go away from there 'signature' styles, Dolk a good shout, even perhaps Miller with his letter series. Both of which I'm a big fan.
