Any pics of the dondi print ? i didnt even know they were availiable.I've recently done a Dondi tribute canvas. I met Duro form C.i.a in Brighton last summer. He had a few issue's to say the least. I only said hello to him and he gave me his life story, " i stopped painting in 198X, got into crack, lived on the streets", etc. All wingey and doom and gloom to be honest. I still think he's a legend though.

..they are quite special in my opinion

i got a D5. it's rich with subtle details, very delicate... it's so well made and beautiful, you really feel this is a labour of love and enormous amount of respect.

In honor and commemoration of Dondi White, a special charity silkscreen edition of 129 will be released for $129 + shipping on October 2nd, 2008 @ 11:29am PDT. The purchase link will be directly posted on 10/2/08 @ 11:29am PDT until the edition is SOLD OUT. Dondi White passed away on October 2nd, 1998. “Gods Love We Deliver” helped him tremendously in the final years (in addition to the countless others that they serve) and will be the beneficiary whom the proceeds will be donated to.

The edition is an 11”x14” 2 color silkscreen on BFK Rives paper with the numbering done by CRIME79. Screen printed folders will be included as well. The edition is entitled “Happy Birthday Dad” and is a previously unseen black-book sketch. It is hand silkscreened by Nenad at NEBO printing, who is the master printer who produced the “D5” and “Rain Proof Dance” Dondi White/Baurmann Gallery Estate Editions. He also works with CRASH and KAWS among others. All proceeds will be donated to “Gods Love We Deliver” in the name and remembrance of Dondi White.

God's Love We Deliver's mission is to improve the health and well-being of men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other serious illnesses by alleviating hunger and malnutrition. We prepare and deliver nutritious, high-quality meals to people who, because of their illness, are unable to provide or prepare meals for themselves.

We also provide illness-specific nutrition education and counseling to our clients, families, care providers and other service organizations.

OUR SERVICES

God's Love We Deliver provides essential food and nutrition services to men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease and other serious illnesses. The Home-Delivered Meal Program
Our Chefs oversee a professional, industrial-size kitchen in SoHo, producing more than 2,000 delicious, nourishing meals for our clients. Each weekday, we deliver 2 meals that fulfill the daily nutritional needs people with serious illness. For the group of approximately 25% of our clients who need special meals to accommodate individual dietary restrictions, our Modified Meals Chef adapts each menu item to meet individual requirements.

Nutrition Education & Counseling
Proper nutrition is essential to the successful management of many serious illnesses. GLWD's Nutrition Specialists provide nutrition education and counseling to meal program clients and others affected by their diseases. Our team of nutritionists does this through individual telephone counseling sessions, family counseling sessions, and group workshops to affected populations. We complement our meal program with comprehensive nutrition counseling In addition, our nutrition education program disseminates important information to the broader community of people affected by HIV/AIDS, cancer, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease and other serious illnesses.

Client Advocacy
We help clients and other access a broad range of support services available throughout our service area. The staff helps clients to use GLWD services effectively, refers them to other local social service agencies that are best equipped to meet their other needs, and advocates on their behalf when necessary. They balance sensibility, knowledge and compassion as they offer support, make referrals for counseling services, assist in alleviating housing crises and help people secure medical benefits and other services.


About the upcoming Baurmann Gallery charity editions:

I am very proud to have the opportunity to publish this edition in conjunction with the Dondi White estate as the first in a series of charity related projects. All printing costs will be reinvested back into the next TBD charity edition. “Gods Love We Deliver” will continue to be worked with for all Dondi White editions but additional charities and projects will be added for future artist charity editions. An example of an upcoming project is taking the proceeds from an edition sale and purchasing sleeping bags to donate directly to homeless on the streets of Los Angeles. More details to be released in the near future about forthcoming Baurmann Gallery charity editions.

I am taking pre-bids on this 1981 Dondi White Original on Canvas. Depending on the response I get, the piece will eventually be up for auction on EBAY.

What is the provenance provided on this?

This piece was first featured in the Fun Gallery 1982. I am not the original owner, i am not sure who was, but i purchased this from Futura 2000's studio in Brooklyn, New York, which he and other artists occupied for almost 20 years. The landlord was liquidating and throwing away a lot of things that were left behind by Futura and other artists who occupied this huge studio in Williamsburg. I corresponded with Futura because of my curiosity of such a finding, and to say the least the piece is in my ownership now. And what i found was definately a treasure a piece of history, i'd like to call it one of those New York moments. I hope I answered your question...thanks for the inquiry.
