Galerie Coste in France - Selling fake pieces, by 1ate7 on Jun 3, 2020 10:45:14 GMT 1, @ Andy: Indeed iits not in the line of blade. But BLADE signed on the front. However his wife confirmed its not blade. I directy this to the gallery and artsy but there was nor reponse. Also on my phone calls they simply hung up. The wriote me before its dated on the back but it is also not dated. Funny thing is I think its an old painting actually from the 90ies but no clue who did it. Maybe someone knows.
I hardly doubt one of their harings is real.

Galerie Coste in France - Selling fake pieces, by pomelo on Jun 3, 2020 23:19:07 GMT 1, Thanks for all the information met
1ate7 Mate, I hope you payed by paypal. I am an old school graffiti collector and I just want to recommend you: You should try to learn more of the artist to be able to see at first look if that was made by him or by another artist named the same. I usually buy books first.
In graffiti, a city with 200K inhabitants can have 2 persons writing the same name... Extrapolate this to the world. Even Blade its one of the most famous writers in the world, others use the same name because they dont know or just dont care.
Few weeks ago I saw a fake Dondi sold on ebay... and I see this kind of stuff every month. Im ok with a listing stating "replica" but 99% times they make fakes to scam people. That is sad and makes me angry.
To buy originals, I recommend you to email them. Also galleries like: dirtypilot.com/ galleriavarsi.it/artists/blade/
If you are really interested in old school graffiti, you can look for information, books or videos of: Stayhigh 149, Comet, Blade, Tracy 168, Seen, Skeme, Lee, Iz, Futura, T-Kid, Fuzz One, Revolt, Zephyr, Lady Pink, Crash, Ghost, Cap... Cornbread and Taki 183 are known as "pioneers" but they didnt hit trains as the others, maybe because they started/quit before fat/filled/bubble/block letters appeared). Most of them produce artworks, but sadly some of them passed away...
Also check Books: Subway Art, SprayCan Art, Hip Hop Files, Mascots and Mugs, The history of American Graffiti, Training Days, The Birth of Graffiti...
Photos: Martha Cooper, Henry Chalfant, Craig Castleman, Jon Naar, Jamel Shabazz...
Movies: Style Wars, Wild Style, Just to Get a Rep, Watching my Name go By...
I feel nostalgia when I see these books and videos, even I was not born yet Graffiti is amazing, specially the subways part
Hope this helps you to be more prepared for your next purchase Good luck with your return, and thanks for the advice!

Galerie Coste in France - Selling fake pieces, by 1ate7 on Jun 4, 2020 8:53:44 GMT 1, Thanks coach. I´m not a graff pro but Happy owner of pieces from futura, ramm, crash etc. Just never had a blade. I indeed should have had a closer look. I liked it cause it did not look like classic blade. But that was a mistake though.

Galerie Coste in France - Selling fake pieces, by djvlnt on Jun 4, 2020 20:21:02 GMT 1, Damn. I’m so sorry for you 1ate7. The gallery obviously sold you a Blade under the false circumstances since they said it was a Steven Ogburn aka Blade King of Graff, so they should defiantly pay you back ASAP and never sell it as a Ogburn again. If they don’t pay you back and cover the shipping costs and so on, then my guess would be that they did this with the intention of fooling you and that sounds like a fraud and a gallery not to be trusted if you ask me.

Galerie Coste in France - Selling fake pieces, by .dappy on Jun 6, 2020 13:53:35 GMT 1, ... so by that logic ... all a gallery has to do is mark on the INVOICE ... 'Piece of Artwork' and they can virtually send out what they like in the tube or envelope ...
... never mind the description on the website, the photographs and any correspondence between the parties ...
... we are all in the wrong business ...

Galerie Coste in France - Selling fake pieces, by 1ate7 on Jun 6, 2020 14:57:43 GMT 1, Thanks Daniel for sharing this. What Mickael is writing is simply a lie.
1. The piece was on artsy registered to the artist BLADE 2. Mickael wrote me its date on the back and its not 3. The invoice actually says that it is a BLADE.
This gallery sells a lot of faes.
