Thierry Noir 🇨🇵 Berlin Wall • French Street Arist , by The Italian One on Aug 24, 2020 15:44:10 GMT 1, I prefer to spend $1200 for an original canvas from an artist with a history like Thierry Noir rather than being fooled paying $1200 for a giclee/printer print from a nobody like Hebru Brantley or a plastic crap statue from Kaws. But this is just my opinion.
amen!

But this is just my opinion. I don't think anyone's saying you shouldn't spend your money exactly as you choose. If a 7x10 by an undeniably historically important artist is worth that to you, great. And great for Thierry Noir if lots of fans feel the same. But that's not really the point. The point is whether that price is what he is 'worth' to the larger market and whether this current pricing is sustainable, or whether he is experiencing a bubble, which he is helping to inflate.
But people buying art they love for a price both they and the artist are happy with is always a good thing.
As an aside, you were keen to buy Hebru Brantley the other day, so odd to call him a nobody.

Thierry Noir 🇨🇵 Berlin Wall • French Street Arist , by Express Post on Aug 24, 2020 16:45:24 GMT 1, The iphone 11 pro is bigger than the latest 7*10cm Noir canvas and costs the same amount.
Thierry is selling to anyone that pays the asking price which means there is no screening of buyers. Too many chumps gonna end up owning his work hoping a white knight of a billionaire comes in and rescues everyone by paying top dollar.

Thierry Noir 🇨🇵 Berlin Wall • French Street Arist , by irl1 on Aug 24, 2020 17:29:29 GMT 1, Might I add, not directed at you kernow
Details below of what looks to be a fantastic event later this month - all enquiries to studio@thierrynoir.comTHE THIERRY NOIR ACADEMY OF ART
Fundraising London exhibition in support of The Kids Network children's charity
22nd to 25th August 2019 at Protein Studios, 31 New Inn Yard, Hackney, London, EC2A 3EY
Opening night: 7PM 22 August Free drinks, all invited rsvp@thierrynoir.com
Thierry Noir is joining forces with London based children’s charity The Kids Network throughout August to raise awareness and funds for vulnerable children in Hackney through collaborative murals and a fundraising exhibition at Protein Studios. For the whole of August Noir will paint murals around the street art hotspots of Shoreditch, Dalston and Hackney Wick with assistance from The Kids Network and local Hackney 8-11 year olds. The children will be mentored by Noir and for a month will become real life street artists painting alongside the legendary Berlin artist in the streets of East London. The project will culminate on the 22nd of August with The Thierry Noir Academy of Art Summer Exhibition in collaboration with Protein Studios. This will be in the form of a survey of Noir’s 40 year painting career with over 1,000 original Thierry Noir works of art (brought from Berlin by Flight Logistics) with proceeds in support of The Kids Network. Having illegally painted over 5 miles of the Berlin Wall during the Cold War, in the process becoming one of the pioneers of the international street art movement, Noir knows a thing or two about street art. Since the 1980s Noir’s colourful motifs, bold lines and timeless visual language have become a symbol of youth culture globally making him a perfect mentor. The Thierry Noir Academy of Art will inspire a new generation in Hackney by providing new experiences and opportunities, the core mission of The Kids Network. Hackney is becoming an increasingly hard place for children to grow up in. The colourful street art has heralded gentrification and influx of new wealth to the district which has resulted in rising social inequality and the erosion of previously established communities. The Kids Network exists to supports children at a crucial time in their lives, in the lead up to and often during the transition from primary into secondary school. Through mentoring, The Kids Network brings together people who would not usually cross paths for social change. Sarah Woodcock, Founder of The Kids Network, says, “the support of Thierry Noir and Protein will have a huge impact on the lives of local Hackney children. In the rapidly changing city, children's voices can often be forgotten. We are massively grateful for an artist like Noir to be giving them this amazing opportunity and helping us expand into Hackney”. Thierry Noir original paintings and screen prints are available on thierrynoir.comAlternatively please email sales@thierrynoir.com to preview the artworks available at the exhibition One year on to the month! Just look at the amount of posts for this exhibition
Now look at all the people trying to buy ............. hype at it's best.
Whatever about new users but people who knew about Thierry Noir had years and years to buy his art at a super low price. Anyone who liked it then purchased because they liked it.
All the bull about missing out is utter s****
Most of you now want to buy for a flip or think you'll make a killing in a year or two

A false market has been created based on nothing other than people sacred they are going to miss the next big thing. And he's milking it for all it's worth. Yep you hit the nail on the HEAD there
He's done good in the last few weeks now time to keep them hungry. Stop all online sales and bump up the exhibition prices.
Ramp it up issue tickets for the exhibitions that will keep them coming for more

The art is cool but I don’t see him ever hitting the big time. if you bought his work for a few hundred pounds you’ll do well out of the speculation on here but I think that ship has now sailed.

The pricing on these is currently £10k although this is currently under review and slated to increase." An average collector like myself is certainly pushed out at that price. I guess that's the art game. He was affordable 2 months ago, you just missed out, as did I.

I gave up my mansion along with the pearls and caviar so can't rely on the family jewels when I buy art.

His team offered me a work last week for £3600. The very same piece was offered to me 4 months ago at £950. I politely declined the offer given the huge price jump and his team’s response was “your loss”, which I think was totally unnecessary. Lost a bit of respect to his team.

Thierry Noir 🇨🇵 Berlin Wall • French Street Arist , by teabaggins on Aug 25, 2020 2:03:22 GMT 1, I have a few pieces by Thierry that Ive picked up over the years. I like them. I also think he's a nice guy that's passionate about what he does and commend him for such a long career.
That said, like most threads here the dialogue is primarily about his prices. Many people, like myself, have bought his work here and there over the years and now have some very minor vested interest I guess.
Unfortunately there is not much depth to the discussion of the work itself because, well... when its all said and done there really isn't much depth to the work itself. Beyond being nostalgic, decorative, and now I guess "valuable" what else is there to discuss? Do you like grey heads? blue ones? orange ones? Awesome. Read this entire thread and it can be summed up as 21 pages of hype. The Mr. Doodle comparisons really don't help either.
For me I appreciate the pieces I have on purely a nostalgic level. Don't get me wrong. I am genuinely happy for the man to make a living and wish him the best with these interesting new sales tactics and marketing crew. I just don't see this as a recipe for any sort of sustainable success. Would love to be wrong of course.

Thierry Noir 🇨🇵 Berlin Wall • French Street Arist , by Express Post on Aug 25, 2020 2:14:40 GMT 1, If he's to be taken seriously now, museum retrospective. Not just one part of the berlin wall sitting on the front lawn. If he's to be taken seriously now, museum retrospective. Not just one part of the berlin wall sitting on the front lawn. Thierry Noir 🇨🇵 Berlin Wall • French Street Arist , by Hairbland on Aug 25, 2020 4:00:13 GMT 1, He was affordable 2 months ago, you just missed out, as did I. He's in my collection. I just don't have a large canvas. I didn't need 12 Noirs so I bought what I liked at the time. Would I have bought more if i knew? maybe, but my brain doesn't really work like that neither does my purse. I gave up my mansion along with the pearls and caviar so can't rely on the family jewels when I buy art. Right, except that when he was affordable you could have bought more, maybe giving up one can of caviar, keeping the mansion (maybe AirBnb?), pearls and as to the family jewels I suppose it depends on what you mean by that. 🧐
