New Jammie Holmes Edition w/ Louis Buhl , by acaipride on Aug 6, 2020 18:11:37 GMT 1, elitist is having a presale to the presale...it is very easy to have a presale filter to known collectors and the ppl interested, one presale for all well interested parties.. not a presale to the presale to the house feeders...most of the time flippers come at the GA sale.

New Jammie Holmes Edition w/ Louis Buhl , by acaipride on Aug 6, 2020 18:13:28 GMT 1, but it is what it is , lost interest in the new upcoming artist, and have had very little to none interest in LB's prior releases, so its really w.e.

New Jammie Holmes Edition w/ Louis Buhl , by ca on Aug 6, 2020 18:28:20 GMT 1, if that random giclée was actually produced long time ago and they were sitting on the stash, it seems to me they went full on damage control after seeing this comment and others. They probably realized that indeed 90+% of the prints were pre-sold to their usual white male collectors.
Interesting development... cool to see them do something but I think it brings back the eternal debate of backdooring prints. Placing OGs in good collections is something but if the regular guy can't even get a print without sucking up to the gallery, what is there left for the casual art fans to collect? Books?

New Jammie Holmes Edition w/ Louis Buhl , by Deleted on Aug 6, 2020 19:17:57 GMT 1, Can’t wait to see my Hand Finished.. You’ve got to support a gallery to get the good stuff.😍 In all fairness that’s bloody easy with Louis buhl! Great releases over and over 🤪 this is not an artist whose message really jives with throw your money at a gallery so you can have a chance to buy his print. i understand from a gallery perspective why this happens, that LB always does this, but surely you can see the other perspective? jamie's work is strongly tied to race and how he grew up. and the only people who were able to buy up his edition were wealthy white guys. art and artists should be supported. a webshop is just that.
To clarify.. White guys can’t buy art by black guys? Can I listen to soul music? Motown? 😂 When an attempt to make people racist, makes you a racist. Idiot

im saying that this method of release (which you banged on about) makes it impossible for people who primarily support black artists to support this release as it was presold to people liek you that have bought every geometric pattern they have released of late

Bringing his race and the race of collectors into it removes the fun.

It was a perfectly reasonable point that didn't attack anyone. If you're collecting this work because you find the artist interesting, discussion of that artist seems like something you should welcome.

You realise white people are also appalled by what happened yes? I think we’ve gone way off line here.
I simply think it’s shit to make so called rich white collectors unworthy of deserving his art.
For me his appeal is his amazing and honest art after recovering from serious mental health struggles. If you ever truly recover.

New Jammie Holmes Edition w/ Louis Buhl , by acaipride on Aug 6, 2020 19:51:16 GMT 1, At this point in time, I think the artist has full knowledge of a print house's plan of release for their work, and if the artist does not , the artist needs better mngmnt or more say on how their art is being sold. At this point in time due to these circumstances , I'm out of the jholmes backing camp.

i do appreciate your take on this particular piece, and agree that this piece is very much about mental health struggles. it is his self portrait, and he has described it as such. with much of the meaning being what you described.

That statement is not backed up with any factual Information

You lobbied them for a certain amount of time..see the connection I'm making with that one word. It's not a fair system, but an elitist system which it got sold under.
Anyways, congrats on the h.e piece, the ones I saw look great

Feels a bit like the Black Lives Matter, ‘no, all lives matter’ conversation that has been happening recently - with that reply usually from people that don’t get it.

again, i dont think you are taking my point in the way i intended it. i am not saying that "rich white collectors are unworthy" of his art, but rather people who are NOT white wealthy collectors are ALSO worthy of his art. unfortunately only one of these demographics had a relationship with louis buhl to be able to obtain this print in the vip presale. i do appreciate your take on this particular piece, and agree that this piece is very much about mental health struggles. it is his self portrait, and he has described it as such. with much of the meaning being what you described. Feels a bit like the Black Lives Matter, ‘no, all lives matter’ conversation that has been happening recently - with that reply usually from people that don’t get it. Are you saying I’m a racist? Let’s get this clear. I’m saying i have the right to buy a black mans art. Be very careful
Absolutely not suggested that at all. You can buy the art made by whoever you want 👍🏼

I get that. But also I think this whole ‘scene’ is politically and socially charged. I don’t think this sort of discussion should be off limits and possibly actually what the artist(s) would want(?)

New Jammie Holmes Edition w/ Louis Buhl , by dani on Aug 6, 2020 22:03:10 GMT 1, who do you think patronizes the gallery as much as you bragged about earlier? Im a wind up merchant. I come on here for a laugh to get a Nibble out of people like you. Bringing his race and the race of collectors into it removes the fun. Not cool Why don't you try reading this: www.jammieholmes.com/about
The artist's work is very much tied to racial and socioeconomic issues. Sorry if that takes the "fun" out of it for you.
