Im relatively new to the whole banksy collections, however I do remeber seeing my first "real" Banksy about 3 years ago in London.

I now have a Gangsta Rat, J&J, Flyin Copper, Toxic Mary. And love the prints... I really wanted the CND too when I saw it a couple of months ago for £250....

I kow the prices went up about feb/march time this year but it seems that within the last month things have gone vertical!!

I paid £480 for the Flyin Copper, 3 weeks ago... Silky just sold his for £775.

I paid £180 for my Gangsta Rat, 4 weeks ago.... sold one of them for £343 on eBay.

I'd never sell my J&J but I paid £250 for it... must be going for £350 now?

I have just reluctantly paid £250 for the Toxic mary although I saw it for only £155 2 months ago!!

What a crazy game this is.... only problem is... my dream prints are getting further and further away from me!!

look at what people are paying for huge print editions form Banksy and compare to something like the value of a Hockney print and I think the hype is out of control. Banksy is more popular than the Beatles and Jesus but I still think people are getting a bit carried away. The old £40 POW prints do look like £40 prints at the end of the day, christ with a shopping bag looks cheaper still IMO

I think much of it is down to the individual some people seem to get caught up with hype in their own heads buy an Artists work up, and then sit back and realize that they actually don't like any of it so then try to sell it on to try and get their money back.

If jesus had been found out to be a pedo it would just get covered up. (if jesus had actually existed of course!)

JBPR do a good job.

Banksy's street pieces are pure gold and worthless monetarily...his originals grace many big collectors collections as well as celebrity collectors..his prints are hugely sought after..every exhibition gets international coverage..his book is the biggest selling art book in the world..even if he falls from grace with some dodgy future productions his place within the art canon is set..his work will always be worth more than you have paid, if the price drops stupidly, don't sell, as within 20 years of any fall he will have a revival..the hype is hype and has put Banksy where he is, along with his art...rest easy and enjoy...(well that's what I believe any way, but I don't own any prints)

Agree with most of these posts, especially he being ground breaking, the works put up on the streets over the years, every piece has meaning, okay some are weaker than others. but they all make headlines etc.. I mean look at the turn out for the Museum, amazing - I for one didnt expect that.. His prints are hugley sort after & yes and you cant blame him/pow for cashing in. I dont think a few prints a year is overkill, unlike Shep etc.... I think B is on the ball with number of prints released and the amount of street pieces thrown up to keep everyone talking... WHAT is going to happen when he gets revealed proper??will he release a book?? end up on chat shows?? become an ambassodor for the UN (LOL)?? who knows?? then the interest 'may' reduce big time, maybe not by the people on this forum though, financially will his works still be worth the same??...
