Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by treblenobass on Nov 17, 2020 14:59:55 GMT 1, To top it all off I now have private messages via this forum that have been sent to me detailing my name & telling me “Cool don’t worry I won’t post your details not my style” To me this looking to be a threat of some sort. An apology would’ve been preferred 👍🏻 Send that to Daniel Silk said User has been reported to Admin. Hopefully this will be the end of the bullshit ✌🏻

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by treblenobass on Nov 17, 2020 15:12:47 GMT 1, I only ever had as much information as was readily available to everyone. I was asked how I valued the decks on the secondary market by a certain user if I was to sell a set of mine & I gave an open value bracket of £9-15k going on the current Banksy market. No secrets here in terms of what has been said 👌🏻 How many sets do you own or are available for sale ? As I mentioned above none of my sets have ever been for sale ✌🏻

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by Lunch Special on Nov 17, 2020 15:13:50 GMT 1, WOW. Before it was just a bunch of men who sat down to pee crying over colored pieces of paper that was too much to bear. Now from what I’m trying not to read you have resorted back to ratting out others for no personal gain just the satisfaction of f$&cking someone else’s sh!t up. Insane. Sad.
Don’t you guys know that the artists may first say and seem to appreciate you snitching on the next mans and dem but there is no honor amongst thieves and less for rats?
I wish the artists would publicly thank the snitch by screenshotting his/her email/DM/sms and posting them.
Then let’s see how many of you international and domestic informants continue to hate on others.
Love is light Hate is heavy Learn to lighten Your load.

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by irl1 on Nov 17, 2020 20:30:45 GMT 1, not the case. If someone is trying to profit from here they ought to be scrutinised. Then people can make their own minds up rather than being silenced. Let's not take our eyes off the ball Yes, except the story is completely fabricated and treble never tried to profit. This thread has been 4-5 pages of iamzero, tab1 and irl1 being wrong about everything and throwing around baseless accusations while trashing the Clown brand and treble. At a certain point, they need to admit they're wrong and sod off. And apologize if they are decent. You only see what you want to see. iamzero and myself said we were wrong about the Clown brand, they are doing a super job.
As for treblenobass, well that's another story

treblenobass helped people in this thread. He is the person who alerted the forum to the existence of the Test Press Series, which was clearly a valuable contribution. You, tab1 and iamzero did the exact opposite. For days on end, you launched absurd attacks on Clown based on zero evidence. And now you are pivoting your attack to focus on treble - someone who came to Clown's defense amid your unfounded attacks - because someone presented irrefutable evidence that you were wrong about the Clown brand.
It is pathetic, and you all should be ashamed of yourselves.

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by JW on Nov 17, 2020 22:12:34 GMT 1, I really hope the bickering ends here. There's really no point flinging shit at each other now that most are on the same page. Take it to PM if you're that hung up on it.
I'm looking forward to people posting pics of the new decks when they arrive.

Defo the 1st edition of this skates had mr B blessings but not so sure about this ones It seems there is only one edition here. Artist approved an edition of 100, they made an edition of 100. I understand the comparison, but different from Sunday B Morning. The art world would consider this an edition by the artist. Similar things have happened with other artists.
The Clown guys are also clearly close friends with Banksy, so the idea that they are doing this without his blessing seems unlikely.
It is what it is. I did not get a set. I am not going to try to knock them down either.
If they make more outside of the 100, then that's a different story. I haven't seen any sign that they will.

I haven't seen any sign that they will. They already made hundreds more outside of the 100 nearly 20 years ago. I own one of them.
Why do you keep ignoring this fact?
Straight up genuine question.
I'm talking about the test press series, not the other logo boards.
I know what their arrangement was regarding the test press series. I do not know what Banksy's arrangement was with clown regarding the later logo boards. Given that Clown and Banksy were close, it seems relatively obvious that there was some sort of arrangement at the time.
www.clownskateboards.com/banksy-test-press
The Clown page above explicitly mentions the black/red logo board being made after the test press series, and that it was a run of 100. It does not say what their arrangement with Banksy was for their logo boards outside of the test press series. They may be considered Banksy editions. They may be considered Clown merchandise. Whatever the arrangement with the artist was is what governs. That is how this works.

100 of the original test press series I assume. So that's the blue/black clown and the monkeys.
The Clown website doesn't claim that there was only ever 20 clown logo boards:
So our first full run were 100 black and red Clown logo boards. The Monkeys never got to see a full run and the blue and black logo board was put away.
Honest question - would the original acetate have been used for the other clown logo editions or could they have been printed using other methods?

Too much has been made of the oft repeated statement that the "artist approved an edition of 100, they made an edition of 100."
But they also made hundreds more, the statement has no meaning, it's nothing more than marketing shîtehawkery.
You can believe that, I suppose. You have all the information I do. This isn't the first time this has happened in the art world.
To say that the other logo boards somehow invalidate the test press series seems implausible, given Clown's relationship with Banksy from 2000-2005.

To say that the other logo boards somehow invalidate the test press series seems implausible, given Clown's relationship with Banksy from 2000-2005.I didn't say anything of the sort. Then I don't understand what point you are trying to make.
They have never made more than 100 of the test press series. They made logo boards in different color variations after the test press series. Those are not the same as the test press series. The test press logo board is the black/blue logo board. Any other logo board is not part of the test press series.
Again, everything I am relaying is public information and I have no affiliation with Clown.
Everything that I am telling you can be found at the below websites: www.clownskateboards.com/banksy-test-press streetartnews.net/2020/11/clown-skateboards-banksy-bots-and-beyond.html www.vikasmalik.co.uk/ thenewordermag.com/tno/clown-skateboards www.propermag.com/site/clown-skateboards-finishing-what-we-started-2020-08

Too much has been made of the oft repeated statement that the "artist approved an edition of 100, they made an edition of 100."
But they also made hundreds more, the statement has no meaning, it's nothing more than marketing shîtehawkery.

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by Nuno on Nov 17, 2020 23:09:06 GMT 1, I'm talking about the test press series, not the other logo boards. I know what their arrangement was regarding the test press series. I do not know what Banksy's arrangement was with clown regarding the later logo boards. Given that Clown and Banksy were close, it seems relatively obvious that there was some sort of arrangement at the time. www.clownskateboards.com/banksy-test-pressThe Clown page above explicitly mentions the black/red logo board being made after the test press series, and that it was a run of 100. It does not say what their arrangement with Banksy was for their logo boards outside of the test press series. They may be considered Banksy editions. They may be considered Clown merchandise. Whatever the arrangement with the artist was is what governs. That is how this works.

Still seems to be some ambiguity around exact numbers created. Obviously it doesn’t matter if you want to ride it or indeed if you are in love with the story but edition size or rarity often mean a lot to collectors. If an image has been reproduced 100’s times on other decks then i think its important to declare.
The set of 3 are great and well done to those that will enjoy them (skateboards on walls aren’t my thing). Just think this could have been handled slightly better from the start.

Mate, no one who actually got a set gives a shit. They are pleased as pie, I am very sure of that.

No doubt most don’t care but I’m sure some are interested, we’ve all been told how important the image is to Banksy and understanding everything around these and him is surely what makes a collector?! I also think its important for those wishing to spend far more than the £1k release price on these to have the benefit of all the info upfront.
