Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by mrizzle on Nov 17, 2020 23:48:23 GMT 1, So...will anyone go for one of these ‘Manifesto’ decks? I think they’re quite cool (controversy over logo Vs reuse of the same image etc asides). I like the orange one.
They mentioned November for them.

It also gives some of the people who missed out on the ‘Test Press’ Series the opportunity to own something closely affiliated with Banksy if they wanted to display as art as opposed to shredding. win win
Also releasing November / December I believe 👍🏻

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by Terry Fuckwitt on Nov 18, 2020 0:37:12 GMT 1, I'm talking about the test press series, not the other logo boards. I know what their arrangement was regarding the test press series. I do not know what Banksy's arrangement was with clown regarding the later logo boards. Given that Clown and Banksy were close, it seems relatively obvious that there was some sort of arrangement at the time. www.clownskateboards.com/banksy-test-pressThe Clown page above explicitly mentions the black/red logo board being made after the test press series, and that it was a run of 100. It does not say what their arrangement with Banksy was for their logo boards outside of the test press series. They may be considered Banksy editions. They may be considered Clown merchandise. Whatever the arrangement with the artist was is what governs. That is how this works.
Too much has been made of the oft repeated statement that the "artist approved an edition of 100, they made an edition of 100."
But they also made hundreds more, the statement has no meaning, it's nothing more than marketing shîtehawkery.
I'm not 100% sure what your asking, but I'll do my best at trying to answer. Banksy designed three stencils for clown skateboards and agreed to make 100 of each design and colour. Clown print off 20 of each of these new decks, but there was no interest in the two monkeys, only the clown with guns if it was made in different colourway. At that point, no more of the first original test series were printed. Banksy and clown then produce 100 decks in red/black, yellow/red and pink/black etc. At that time Banksy was pretty much an unknown, so the majority of these decks were skated and trashed. Roll on 20 years and Clown print the rest of the very first test press series which was initially agreed with Banksy(60 to public, 20 to f&f). As there is obviously monetary value in these now, they will be numbered from an edition of 100, along with the original 20 from this series,if the owners come forward. None of these acetates will ever get used again after this. Variations of the clown with guns logo could be used for ever more in any way clown want, but you will never see the two monkeys on a deck, tshirt or any other merchandise again.

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by gimmeabreak on Nov 18, 2020 0:51:27 GMT 1, Mate, no one who actually got a set gives a shit. They are pleased as pie, I am very sure of that. No doubt most don’t care but I’m sure some are interested, we’ve all been told how important the image is to Banksy and understanding everything around these and him is surely what makes a collector?! I also think its important for those wishing to spend far more than the £1k release price on these to have the benefit of all the info upfront. The only people who are making a fuss about that stuff are the people who didn't get sets. It is pretty transparent what is happening here.
No one is asking how many times Banksy has used the monkey detonator image. No one actually cares about how many times any of these images were used. People are having temper tantrums and/or trying to talk down the set.
The test press series is a numbered edition of 100. If anyone wants information about the other logo board runs, or how many times a given image has been used by Clown or Banksy, they should reach out to someone who was involved in the process. Those people are not here on the forum.

The way treble was talking previously it felt as though he was that person.
I don’t think it’s necessarily the people that ‘missed out’ that are having a tantrum. I’ve said before these aren’t my thing and I don’t mind whether they are valued at £1k,£3k or £10k, I won’t ever be buying them.
I think there is a number of people with a financial interest in this that are protecting their investment - why would you allow random people on a forum to question the rarity and by default the value of something you may have been waiting 20yrs for. It’s your golden ticket.
I was always only interested in the facts and they never seemed to be as clear as they could have been.
Anyway. I’m going to leave this thread as I don’t think there is much more to be said. Look forward to seeing them hanging up.

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by mj on Nov 18, 2020 7:33:29 GMT 1, Maybe its just me but this new releases of the skate decks are or will be on par with Warhol Sunday B print debate, blue stamp vs red stamp vs black stamp. Defo the 1st edition of this skates had mr B blessings but not so sure about this ones It seems there is only one edition here. Artist approved an edition of 100, they made an edition of 100. I understand the comparison, but different from Sunday B Morning. The art world would consider this an edition by the artist. Similar things have happened with other artists. The Clown guys are also clearly close friends with Banksy, so the idea that they are doing this without his blessing seems unlikely. It is what it is. I did not get a set. I am not going to try to knock them down either. If they make more outside of the 100, then that's a different story. I haven't seen any sign that they will. If that's the case that only 100 was or will be printed than thats alright but just because you say they are close friends with Banksy he defo said go ahead and print some more, not so sure.
Laz was or still is close friend of B but he did released loads of stuff without his approval. And so you know I did not even bother to join the lottery cause I did not like this release, and I was not knock them down but only given my view. I dont have to like them just because of you.

Great example in reference to laz , his Limited tenners and books , extra amounts are slowly released at different outlets . Agreements With banksy can be broken if not working with the business partner going forward . The popular product line is the banksy branded items , many people bought the T-shirt’s and extras as informed they are only released on the official release and no more would be made or sold when sold out they sold out on the website but now already seeing More T-shirt’s At different outlets . Decks were priced fine and no one is disagreeing with that , members are trying to find out the history of all the images And decks available as there was no interest in these the years before , even last year when a member tried to sell a deck no one was interested As mentioned collectors like limited and rare items and before purchasing on the secondary market are just trying to find out the history.as there is no sales history similar to these products and people often change value figures weekly with banksy items people are trying to gauge a worth by the limited availability , already suggested by someone these sets are worth 15k? How was that figure achieved? . It is more people that have won and have an interest in the brand that are becoming highly defensive , repeating certain lines and avoiding certain questions to protect their investments . Have never seen any wanted adds over the years for these decks , just the timing , release and marketing of this brand has been right this time round

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by nex on Nov 18, 2020 13:08:01 GMT 1, I just don't understand the confusion or animosity on all of this - from both sides.
There is literally ONE item of confusion, the specific clown skateboard, which has clearly been used in further colorways (and some plain english wording in the sale would have cleared this up). The only issue I envisage would be if the other two images appear again, but I can't see that occurring given everything that's been said and assured.

Here are screen shots from the clown site, it couldn't be any clearer to me

I heard his sealed bid was £42k but he didn’t hear back so they must have had better offers?!
Lucky really because he’s more of an e-scooter kinda guy these days anyway.

I don’t think this information will ever be disclosed to the general public. I do know that a lot of bids were received but this once again doesn’t answer your question though.

Or was it a typo and you were unlucky? The sentiment of your second sentence doesn't align with the first.

Think sentiment is easily lost in translation, amongst many other things.
From his previous posts it appears he was lucky in the free lottery draw, he posted a screenshot of the same purchase page I had when successful in that draw so I’m assuming that’s the case.

Ahh, by "free" you mean it was the third drop that was a lottery that gave people the opportunity to buy for £1000?
ie. Not the 2nd drop lottery where there winner won the set for free.

Yeah sorry for clarity whenever I’ve referred to the ‘free’ draw it was relating to the lottery that was free to enter with the winners having the purchase option for a grand. The other two draws were, as you probably know, the sealed bids draw & then the ‘raffle entry’ where you paid £10 for the chance to win the decks & t shirt combo.
I purchased the decks at £1,000 and had the same purchase page as the member you were quoting.

Congrats. Make sure you post a photo once you receive them.
