Christie's Art Auctions , by Express Post on May 26, 2019 23:30:34 GMT 1, Didn't play out as you predicted fellas. It reached 8 figures in HKD.
HKD$24m despite all the speculation.
But can we take a moment to process the Karimoku KAWS result over at Phillips. HKD$2m bp. What a blow out.
That's why I'm thinking >$10M but less than the Kimpsons that went for $14.5M. The size alone should get it close to 8 figures...but in this environment, who the hell knows? Its in Christies, its in Hong Kong, its KAWS all the signs of a record price

Christie's Art Auctions , by Graham H on Jun 14, 2019 12:54:49 GMT 1, I just cant get my head around that estimate for what is no way one of his better images..
Im in no way the font of knowledge, but since the Shredded Balloon stunt there has been a noticeable jump in gallery and auction pricing on original works.. with figures just being plucked from thin air, add some on top, add a bit more on top and hope to catch a buyer being my experience in the last couple of months whilst investigating trying to add something
It was obvious with prints now getting into the £100k bracket for more than just GWRB there would be an upward original price shift.. but it does seem ambition of auction houses and galleries is making this happen
This estimate, in my opinion, is an example of that.
Just for thought, the £800k top estimate below is similar to what the one off, iconic GWRB piece was selling for in the auction that got shredded.. and the images are no way comparable ( again, just my opinion )

Then you have the "other one", see lot 333 below
Would you want to pay that kind of money knowing there was another one like it?

to my opinion much more soul on Banksy art than kaws.. if only i can i'd rather buy an original by Banksy.

Not trying to turn this thread into a Brexit discussion, just saying you can get more £ for your $ these days.

Christie's Art Auctions , by Hubble Bubble on Jul 31, 2019 10:32:28 GMT 1, Seems like the perfect time to sell off some art. I would imagine many British would like to spend their hard earned money in September on art right before they see their savings plummet in value due to the Brexit-Devaluating-Misery by the end of October and beginning of November. If savings are plummeting, might be a good time to buy art!
