More fool him. Time to make a cheeky offer?

Christie's Art Auctions , by jamesreeve5 on May 15, 2008 22:13:36 GMT 1, 2 Barry McGee's have been bought in this week as well... hey weren't very good examples of his work and they were estimated between $15,000 - $20,000 each. There is a third one coming up at Phillips that probably has the best chance of selling (also estimated at $15,000 - $20,000).
I am also particularly interested in tomorrows Phillips auction because it is the first time a Dash Snow piece is going up for auction.

Christie's Art Auctions , by jamesreeve5 on May 15, 2008 23:40:32 GMT 1, Felix... I believe you are referring to the Dave Kinseys on Rob's wall...
Afroken... it's lot 215 in part II of the sale... "Incest, a Game the Whole Family can Play" and a steal estimated between $10,000 and $15,000.

Thanks I hadn't spotted part II. A friend of mine has the Nan Goldin lot 397. Will be interesting to see what that goes for. It's stunning.

Christie's Art Auctions , by jamesreeve5 on May 16, 2008 0:49:59 GMT 1, I like both those Nan Goldins (397, 398), but for the money I like the two kissing a bit more (and it's about $3,000 less which is always attractive as well)...

Christie's Art Auctions , by Pattycakes on Jun 10, 2008 17:16:31 GMT 1, Frankly Christie's are not the place to sell Banksy prints, I think it's the first time they have offered them. For me the best London print sale is Bloomsbury Auctions. It's not an Urban art sale, but a mixed one and generally they get pretty good prices.

Agreed, wrong sale at the wrong auction house... wish I knew about this one though, that Happy Choppers is an absolute steal

Christie's Art Auctions , by They call me Stephen on Jun 10, 2008 17:32:58 GMT 1, any bubble bursting will only really threathen those looking to make a quick buck in the short term future. I for one am looking forward to a calming of prices...it might allow me to pick up prints that otherwise would have been unobtainable and that is a very good thing!! (for me anyway)

Christie's Art Auctions , by jones27 on Jun 10, 2008 17:45:04 GMT 1, Its all this 'comtemporary art' talk (mainly about prices and auction houses) which is actually boring..Sadly its happening with Faile too..I hope things calm down, surely the days of getting excited about spoting a new Banksy down Ladbroke grove and getting the opportunity to simply pick up a print off the net is much more fun.

Christie's Art Auctions , by Pattycakes on Jun 10, 2008 18:22:24 GMT 1, the prices are with premium which is 25% on the first 25,000 and 20% there after. So the signed Happy Choppers made just over 4K crazy!

Christie's Art Auctions , by lee3 on Jun 10, 2008 18:26:37 GMT 1, I don't follow print sales very much though the Moss sounds like it did just fine as I thought these have been trading between $100-$120k and this was the top end of that range, no? Are the others higher or lower than normal?

That is an unbeliveable bargain. One of, if not the best Banksy print. This price will look like chicken change come the next few years. wait til you see this rolled out at auction in 2030 going for near ยฃ100K (and that's not huge inflation now til then)
