Christie's Art Auctions , by Lazarus II on Jul 20, 2020 22:33:41 GMT 1, Was going to make a comment about some users being a w*n*er but can't be bothered Now now, old chap. You should know by now that you must take the rough with the smooth - if you want to publicise an item you have for sale by posting it on a forum, you must accept that not all comments will be positive. (Plus, he is correct of course). 3 times on a single thread doesnt help matters much, is there a Stik collab up for auction anytime soon?

We will charge you a buyer’s premium on the hammer price of each lot sold. We calculate the buyer’s premium as follows: On all lots except wine we charge 25% of the hammer price up to and including: GBP 225,000; 20% on that part of the hammer price over GBP 225,000 and up to and including GBP 3,000,000; and 13.5% of that part of the hammer price above GBP 3,000,000.
so is that £46,875?
sorry my maths is awful correct me if wrong

Could it be that if the auction goes above the higher estimate there is an extra commission for the auction house? It could be an explanation...

I thought the consensus was that lower estimate encourage more people to participate in an auction and this results in higher prices

Yes, i agree, and I also feel attracted by 3.000 $ for an IK What I don’t “like” is high estimate. I think it’s not completely fair (but maybe it’s part of auction businesses), as I think it has direct impact on the fees to pay by the seller
PS: IF SOMEONE IS WILLING TO SELL AN IK FOR 3.000 $ DM ME!!
