Christie's Art Auctions , by pirovino on Aug 5, 2020 22:58:26 GMT 1, Hello all - if anyone has questions about any of the works in the show, please let me know. For now, there is no physical printed catalog; plans are always subject to change. Personal viewings are available by appointment at the Christie's Rockefeller Center NY HQ. There will be a gallery dedicated to the exhibition.
Thank you!!

It’s not a 1 seller auction though right?

If someone got into “urban” art just for the money than outside of a short list of say 5 total artists then get out while you can and buy something you love instead.

With the greatest respect you could say that about every single art movement

Christie's Art Auctions , by tlaa2020 on Aug 8, 2020 14:44:42 GMT 1, I think it’s a well curated auction. And great to see urban art being addressed in The traditional auction houses, rather than just the odd kaws / haring / banksy being added to the contemporary auctions.
Personally I think some more earlier work would be good to see too. Although I must say that 99’ kaws is bangin’.

Do you love it enough to buy or is it another Harland Miller auction disaster? There’s been quite a few now and still White Cube try to sell hand finished prints for up to £80k

But yes, I agree with the crazy HF print pricing compared to originals results. Race isn't over yet though.

I still don't really understand why this happens (i.e. when print prices are strong but the originals aren't ) and whether it's a sign that a) the originals are underpriced or b) the prints are overpriced and the artist doesn't have long term staying power in the 'art world'.
Specifically thinking of David Shrigley, Connor Brothers etc.
Anyone got any insights?

Christie's Art Auctions , by Deleted on Aug 19, 2020 16:47:20 GMT 1, Can anyone explain why Yayoi Kusama's mini resin pumpkins always do well at auction when they're still readily available for a few hundred dollars? Or are there different editions? Have seen them come up at auction quite a few times and it's always puzzled me that they go for big money, so wondered if I'm missing something.
