That's the one mate, glad someone else remembers it, I thought I'd gone mad. I've searched for the blooming thread but can't find it!

Sotheby's Art Auctions β’ LONDON π¬π§, by curiousgeorge on Jun 15, 2011 15:33:35 GMT 1, I did a post on my blog about the new piece Gas Mask Boy. I also took the time to create a hi-res image of it. Feel free to grab it here: bit.ly/iHZx3ylooks like itΒ΄s stenciled over an other painting and the reflection you see on the gas mask is from the original?
I think a version of this came with ETTGS dvd (flowers instead of the sea is reflected)

Sotheby's Art Auctions β’ LONDON π¬π§, by Harveyn on Jun 15, 2011 15:59:09 GMT 1, I didn't say I didn't buy some works at Β£100, they look great, just not Paranoid Pictures I think it's poor. Just because it is by Banksy doesn't mean I would want it (unlike some). BANKSY is just like any other artist for me. I'm not buying for investment, I'm buying so I can hang it on the wall. As for the "look silly making up excuses now" that's amusing considering what you do not know about my collection. A few members on here will know what I own with regards to BANKSY but thats how it will stay. Yes yes I'm sure you have a wonderful collection and yes of course (unlike everyone else on the forum) you only buy what you love without a care for investment value. That's great. Whatever. But calling paranoid pictures poor is ridiculous and claiming it will or has cracks is just silly. Anyway, that little monkey, it could be anyones there were probably 10 of those at santas ghetto.
I can assure you mine has no cracks, is much loved and is going nowhere... ;D
Is it my favourite Banksy ever? No. But the those might have just cost me a tad more....

Yeah, Banksy's went for silly money. Strange week in auction land with the usual names (Warhol, Dubuffet, Freud, etc) shooting relentlessly higher and a few standouts drifting much lower. Approximate totals for the 4 Banksy's were:
Keep It Real ~$75k Gas Mask Boy ~$173k Paranoid Pictures ~$86k Riot Cop ~$93k

For UK guys Β£46,850 Β£55,250 Β£109,250 Β£58,850 With buyers premium not sure if 20% VAT is applicable on the Hammer Price or is already included.

Define silly Lee I've been expecting originals to move North for the past year or so now so maybe these prices aren't so silly after all. Just a thought...

Silly relative to the teaser estimates or prices at primary for equivalent works. Positively tame compared with any prominent dead pop artist. I hear you and agree on your expectations but the art market is an strange beast. Looking at other results it just boggles the mind how far Hirst butterflies and spots have come in since '08. I forgot that those Banksy's will also have an artist resale right premium attached too so add another couple percent.
