Interesting to see the Miller do so well in the US... You are aware the location of the auction has nothing to do with the audience? It was bought buy a UK collector ..

Interesting to see the Miller do so well in the US... It was a pretty good result but a very soft guide, clearly priced to entice.

The big 3 are well known for that Yes they are very protective of their sell through rate and like to brag about how many lots sell well above high end of guide. In reality most savvy buyers and sellers see right through this but clearly some people are lapping it up or they wouldnโt keep doing it.

Our First Open auction which ran this season closed yesterday, with 90% sold by lot and a hammer of 134% of the low estimate, both excellent statistics.

Add to this also the Bbay entry, which I think it is coming online this Spring.

Been speaking to a couple of auctioneers and theyโve had more conditions report requests and early bids for the upcoming auctions than they can remember. I expect all the coming auctions to do well assuming they proceed that is.

May someone, more knowledgeable then me, elaborate on the statement on those defaced tenner? This is the only LOT with this statement, as far as I can see. All are with COA (Maybe except for LN, Where COA will be delivered in due time...)

There's a bit of an anomaly when it comes to auctions. They are necessarily anonymous for the seller (they originate from a time when an estate selling their wares was a mark of shame), however ownership does matter. A lot from an 'important' collection (say a musuem, or Saatchi) will command a premium over an identical lot without that 'brand'.
So this tips you the hat that the provenance is aok and the former owner is someone worth boasting about.
All a bit needless, but can be helpful for items where provenance is sometimes a question mark
