Case studio NO-RESALE AGREEMENT, by Deleted on Sept 18, 2020 18:32:12 GMT 1, You don’t sell it for 2 years. Simples
They don’t want them being flipped so you agree to the conditions to give them confidence in you.
Not worth the paper it’s written on legally but reputation is everything in this game and breaking such an agreement will get you blackballed.

Yeah I got that thank you.
But how does that legally works, how could they find out. What could they do against you ? It's actually the first time I see this, could this be the new thing against flippers ?
I don't think it is "such" an agreement. I don't think that would damaged your "reputation" so badly unless you are a big well known art dealer. And you can just no put your own details to order the piece so I don't find your argument relevant

We sold a painting at my Gallery (#Hashtag Gallery) by Faith47 where she had the same clause. This was to make sure the buyer was serious, and not just buying it just to make a profit.
Having work sold to serious collectors will raise the provenance of a piece. Selling it to flippers and casuals will not.

Nothing. It has no teeth. People can sign anything, but doesn't mean it's legally all-good.
It's not meant to inspire legal action. Think of it more as a serious suggestion. If you value your reputation with the artist/dealer, you'll abide. But if you don't, they can't do anything.

Case studio NO-RESALE AGREEMENT, by fonebone45 on Sept 18, 2020 18:52:02 GMT 1, Let's be honest, buying a piece like this isn't giving you a piece of art history. It's just hype art that looks kind cool, and may gain a couple hundred bucks in value

Case studio NO-RESALE AGREEMENT, by fonebone45 on Sept 18, 2020 19:01:27 GMT 1, i saw the same for other artists... 3 months and they were already on Ebay... That's because wording like that for releases like this is part of their marketing. It makes the buyer feel exclusive/important.

Unlike all the the other $1500 pieces you are buying that will be worth millions? 😂

I'm just an artist and street art fan, and buy the occasional print I like for my walls.
Fine Art collecting is a much different game.

I show the art I like to see, and work to bring the artists I like up to Toronto to show others in my city some of the great stuff going on.

This, plus the big galleries all have relationships with auction houses. If they want it pulled they'll get it pulled. That said, Case Studio isn't Gagosian; they can't do sh*t, but I imagine with what nuts Ebay are they'd pull these if told to by Case.

Yeah I know Sotheby’s have refused to take pieces with resale clauses, can’t imagine that the 2nd tier auction houses will care too much but who knows.

Yeah I remember two years ago Ford sued John Cena after he tried reselling his Ford GT. They ended up settling out of court.

Not Case closed. There is a raffle and many editions to give people a decent chance.
480 pieces in total

Case studio NO-RESALE AGREEMENT, by Happy Shopper on Sept 19, 2020 14:11:36 GMT 1, I wonder why they’re releasing them like this? Worried they won’t sell the whole edition at that price, so need a bit of extra hype? I assume they’ll still have their usual friends and VIPs presale on top of this raffle presale... then a main release!?

I think this is the largest and most expensive edition to date? Because the demand is there. They could have sold these all quietly, and more, just trying to keep the moaners happy post - release.
