They might know all the Banksys cos they insure mine! They seem very good & i've recommended them a few times, but you never really know until it comes to claiming, and touch wood i've never had to....

I asked my insurance people about it and they did not make a big deal of it either, they said anything that worth more than ยฃ2500 need to be individually listed, i havent got round to listing my items, im not sure what you do then.

I asked them what the process was if they were stolen and they said that they would aim to replace and if not would give me the cash (after I pointed out that replacing them might not be easy).
In terms of the art, they didnt have much of a clue what I was talking about, though they seemed pretty on the ball about the process. Felt reassured(ish) but I think if prices do hike again I might look for a moe specialist insurance company......
Now have to worry about the actual cost of ownership for Banksys - who'd have thought eh?

How my insurance works(Chubb, in the States), there are multiple thresholds...
Anything under $10k does not have to be itemized and is covered under a blanket 'misc.' portion of the policy.
Anything over $10k but below $100k has to be itemized and is valued at what I assign it(with premium based on assigned value).
Anything over $100k needs an appraisal.
There is also a 20% factor that minimizes the need to constantly edit the policy with regard to fast-rising pieces. So, if I can prove a replacement value, it can be up to 20% higher than I had listed.

Specialist art insurers understand the market, they genuinelly have an interest in it. I would only place my business (and do) with a specialist insurer.

TAOI have been different class. They have managed to give me a vastly more comprehensive insurance for my art and contents. At the same time nearly halving my current premium!

They are a broker and insure through BRIT Insurance.
Seems good to me but thankfully have yet to claim, so don't really know.

I'd be stunned if www.taoi.co.uk/ couldn't blow that out of the water with a very comprehensive coverage.

Try again pupster, i rent my house and have contents and art insured with them. Maybe you share a front door or something, perhaps you live in scally central??
