Thanks Bunnyboiler for bringing this up again, it's been bugging me for a while that I still havn't sorted any art insurance out. It was very refreshing talking to someone who new the artists I was talking about. It wasn't the same when I rang the insurance company who cover my contents. Cheers, c

I've never had to claim but I can't be happier with my dealings with them so far. "
I second that - used them for about a year, really resonable rates and very easy to deal with. That being said, anyone have any experience of having to make a claim at all?

Is this your company? I'm not surprised about the reasonable rates if their website is anything to go by:
"This policy is designed for the insurance of small to medium sized private collections, ranging from ยฃ5,000 to ยฃ50,000."
"Please note the following limitations for accidental damage: - - ยฃ500 for any one item insured under the definition of a โcollectableโ - ยฃ1,000 for any one item insured under a specific category (e.g. ceramics, glass or other brittle articles) unless this is specified and agreed with the insurers.
We define a collection as โan accumulation of inanimate objects gathered for study, comparison, exhibition or as a hobbyโ "
Such policies can be really good, but please be aware of the small print and make sure you are really clear on whats covered.

Art Insurance in the UK, by stevieray101 on Feb 10, 2010 17:42:49 GMT 1, Has anyone actually claimed on their art insurance?
what i'm trying to work out is if there is a gap e.g. you paid ยฃ2k for your print, insurance company gives your ยฃ1k on "current market value" what can you do?
cars have this problem, that's why dealerships sell you gap insurance as well.
with all the cash i've spent i could of had a few more prints by now

Can anybody recommend insurers for signed prints, banksy, peter blake, walker etc etc?
Naming the pieces on my home contents insurance causes no end of issues, new locks, alarms systems, proof of worth etc.
Cheers

Art Insurance in the UK, by jamesreeve5 on May 22, 2010 18:42:11 GMT 1, haha... i always find it interesting when these threads come up... Banksy is a bit of an anomaly in the world of insurance because his art is actually recognized by thieves! So unfortunately a Banksy print is much more susceptible to theft than say a much more valuable Richard Prince print or even a Warhol Print (I did know someone in LA who had his Pettibone stolen because the thief was a Black Flag fan). Also, given the amount of Banksy works that "circulate" on ebay, it is nearly impossible to track down the stolen goods (although for the insurance-less, a photo of the print and edition with COA can often help in property disputes, however, if it has changed hands more than once since being stolen it becomes nearly impossible to get back).

Art Insurance in the UK, by They call me Stephen on Jun 9, 2010 15:20:47 GMT 1, I'm with Endsleigh who came in the lowest when I was searching. I've not long put in a claim for some accidental damage to an old stereo system of quite high value and they were very quick to pay up, easy to deal with and further still we've recently received our renewal quote for next year and it hasn't changed or gone up as expected!

Art Insurance in the UK, by bert on Jun 9, 2010 15:33:45 GMT 1, I'm with More Than.
I got burgled a couple of months ago and they were more than useful - everything was done over the phone and I claimed about ยฃ6k worth of stuff without having to show any proof. Replacements/cheques/vouchers all turned up within a couple of weeks...I was very pleased with the service. Perhaps it's because I've had contents insurance for about 14 years without claiming, but I found them nice and easy to deal with (although it was straight forward stuff like TV, cameras, PS3 etc and nothing specialised like art...my prints all fall under the ยฃ2k threshold for individual items).
I also recommend a site like www.quidco.com to claw back a few quid in cashback (assuming your chosen insurer is on there)...I think I got ยฃ60 back with my More Than policy last year, which was a fair chunk of the premium.

Art Insurance in the UK, by Harveyn on Jun 9, 2010 20:31:30 GMT 1, I have been talking to Hiscox and they seem to be offering what I need. They include art in the general contents section with no limit on individual value of each piece. Just an overall limit of ยฃ250k. Its not cheap but I need a fair amount of coverage for my art collection.
I am also speaking to Axa Art and Loveart.
I will try lark also.
