Ya what the fuck is wrong with the pixelation!!!
I knew it was his but now seeing it up close. Unless it’s an artistic choice haha 😂

New Banksy in Nottingham , by Not 4 The Thril on Oct 17, 2020 16:34:14 GMT 1, LOVE IT! I knew it was Banksy- it was too good and had all the hall marks. Even if the execution is a bit different the wit/humor, placement, hands and feet tell you its a B.

New Banksy in Nottingham , by poofly on Oct 17, 2020 17:10:13 GMT 1, It looked like a Banksy from the the technique, the only off point was the pixelated stencil. I wonder why the image is so pixelated? Is it part of the image as it doesn’t make any sense. New Banksy team member or intern probably

There is no way that is not by design. It's too precise.

Does it have to have a meaning for you? Can it not be just a humorous image? Or perhaps apply a little lateral thinking and consider if the placement (adjacent to the old Raleigh bicycle factory) is part of the story. Anyway perhaps just move on if it’s not for you.

Too precise? How is it too precise.
So in your opinion what’s the meaning of the precision?

It's too precise. Too precise? How is it too precise. So in your opinion what’s the meaning of the precision? Think about the process of cutting a stencil. Why would he create a pixel effect if not intentional? It would take more effort than cutting a straight line, so the steps would be very deliberate.
Any argument that it's a result of a blown up a jpeg is odd. How has this not happened in the past if that's the case?
I mentioned before that I see the hula girl in the same vein as No Ball Games. Think of it as a take on the hoop and stick game. Children in underprivileged areas making the best of their somewhat derelict surroundings and the discarded bike was a playful way to bring that to life.
Perhaps the added pixel effect is an update to the previous message - as someone else referred to them as "digital kids". Whether by choice or more recently because of lock-down, the days of traditional outdoor fun is being substituted with artificial fun over social media (I still see a Facebook logo in her hair).
All of that may be a stretch and you're the biggest sea lion I've ever seen, but it is nice to talk about the art rather than prices.

“May be a stretch”. No your statement about the pixelation adding to the image is 100% a stretch and made up. It fine to have your opinion, but to play it off as ‘genius’ by the artist and as if it’s intentional and brings a deeper meaning is a Mickey Mouse art critique. It’s a joke. Sorry. This is why people mock art historians and their puffed up critiques of art. When they come up with nonsense it’s quite telling.
This thread went from. Not a banksy it’s poorly done and jagged and pixelated. Looks bad. Not good quality. *find out it’s a Banksy* Wow the artistic genius of pixelating the work and adding a Facebook logo. Amazing
Lol 😂

I said I did think it was by Banksy and "liked it for what it is". And my view is that it is a harmless/playful piece, but not without some social commentary.
I didn't call it genius, nor did I comment on the quality before I saw close-up images.
There's only one Mickey Mouse art critic around here, and it's the guy who keeps coming in to every single Banksy thread with a holier than thou attitude but zero substance. Because you're so utterly thick - I'll point out that I'm referring to you.
Have you received the attention that you so desperately crave for today? I hope so because that's it from me.

Didnt really follow this thread, but I think most people agreed it looked quite nice. Piece of advice from the legendary Mark Twain:

New Banksy in Nottingham , by iamzero on Oct 17, 2020 20:13:19 GMT 1, Entirely understandable to question if this was by Banksy or not. The pixelated style is strange but the rest of the piece in it’s entirety screams that he did it. Until confirmation I was on the fence just glad that came through just as we were heading out the door this morning. I’ve posted some more detailed images now.

New Banksy in Nottingham , by Arty Farty 15 on Oct 17, 2020 20:22:51 GMT 1, Intentionally pixelated to reflect the digital nature of children playing nowadays. Context is that Nottingham is on the brink of tier 3 lockdown.
Kids are no longer playing on the streets but are instead playing on someone’s Facebook wall. It’s a vicious cycle.

Playing on ‘someone’s’ wall. As proved by the great iamzero post at the top of page 9 of this thread.

New Banksy in Nottingham , by Rubberneck on Oct 17, 2020 20:59:53 GMT 1, Why do you all think Banksy keeps using young girls in his artwork? It’s a theme that is becoming almost as prevalent as rats. With this last piece is it almost a too chocolate box representation of innocence?
