It isnβt sold out. It hasnβt ever been sold out. They have been βallocatedβ now, to potential buyers. Not sold to them. Those potential buyers have 5 days to decide whether to buy - or not. As there are, in total, so many buyers, it is likely that some will choose not to buy, for one reason or another. What happens to those prints, I do not know for sure, but I imagine they will be allocated to other potential buyers. This would be an odd definition of βsold outβ in my opinion.

Does anyone know if this print is still available? thanks shy I have a hand sprayed David Walker painting available to buy at the moment that in my opinion is not so dissimilar to some of Richters earlier portrait works and I'm only looking for Β£400. As I'm sure your newest best mate and advisor, the supercilious Poster Bob will concur its always good to acquire work by an artist in the earlier stages of their career thereby avoiding over inflated secondary market prices as well as more importantly supporting new artists. Its really quite incredible almost astonishing that you've gone from not understanding the desire to buy a blurry print to dropping Β£4500 within 24 hours,....really quite unbelievable.

Gerhard Richter π©πͺ Abstract β’ Contemporary Art β’ New Relea, by Dive Jedi on Jul 11, 2018 11:16:23 GMT 1, I don't get this print either? What makes it so desirable? It's just a blurry image? Gerhard Richter is Internationally recognised as one of the world's leading contemporary artists. Born in Dresden in 1932, his mature work dates from 1962 when he made his first 'Photo Pictures': paintings based on photographs selected from newspapers, magazines and later family albums. From the mid 1960's he also began to explore other styles, including abstract painting as well as a range of media. He is very highly revered by both photographers and oil painters alike and has influenced many neophyte artists from both disciplines. The technical aspect of Richter's photographically-derived paintings that has generated most comment has been the 'blurring' of the original image when translated into paint. Richter explains, 'I blur things to make all the parts a closer fit and to blur out the excess of unimportant information'. In 2009 many of his portraits were exhibited at The National Portrait Gallery in London. *I studied his work about 20 years ago as part of a photography course and am currently studying both Gerhard Richter & Edward Hopper as part of an oil painting course. I shan't be buying one simply because I don't feel the need to own art to appreciate art ....and I don't have a spare 4500 grand. It's all about technique innit, d'ya get it now? You learn something every day.
Might have been discussed before, but.....
Is this Urban art / Street art ? ?

Iβm not sure of your point. I said that you have 5 days to decide whether you want to buy or not. I anticipate that there will be some who say they no longer want to, and some who simply do not reply, and so there is likely to be more to be allocated.

My apologies. This is one of the pitfalls of using latest posts. I thought I was replying on the Hirst Serpentine release thread. Quite possibly my comments apply equally here.

If its been mentioned on this site before then please forgive me. I really enjoyed it and thought it might interest other members in the area. The exhibition is on until 18 August. See review below
