I too have been offered one. So not all going to their own list of buyers

The funny thing is he was an emerging artist last year and you could have bought a painting by him for that much. 

Those was sold out from last week.

I don’t trust any new artist signed with LSC - their sales prices or their markets. LSC either shows artists after their peaks or signs new ones and manipulates the hell out of their prices and demand.

I guess all galleries do in someways. But LSC is notorious for this.

It’s funny you mention them. I believe Louis Buhl is also connected to LSC. That’s why they sell the same artists. It’s all a master plan for their investments/ artists.

It's quite common. Almine Rech ask you to sign a two-year agreement.

5 year non-resale agreement for a print is far from common 

If you look now on Louis Buhl site, which has all the same artists as LSC, both based in Detroit and owned by the same people... they now have a statement you cannot sell prints for two years. I figure LSC has an agreement with all their artists to now do this.

First off this statement will not hold up in any court. Unless you actually signed a contact it does meant much.

They really want to control their artist market at much as they can even though they flip KAWS ngv print/books and other bs on their site.

Screw it.  I pulled the trigger....Its only $5500....I doubt I would get too hurt on this given the supply and demand and the restriction is just on auctions, not private sales.  I am sure there are people who will want to own this chap in the next 18 months quite badly.  I could buy a bunch of street art prints and the ability to appreciate would be much slower and more speculative.
