They've also just changed their t&c's to not insure any art or art related item being sent anywhere. They'll fecking well charge you extra to insure it without saying a fecking word, but if it gets damaged in transit, its your risk and nowt to do with them, fecking cnuts that they are....

Shipping Art โข UK, USA, Asia, Europe, Australia, by sparkplug on Sept 16, 2010 14:51:00 GMT 1, strange to hear these p2g woes - i use the DHL / HDN collection and delivery 3/4 times a week sending laptops out - not had one go missing or be damaged. Obv p2g are an intermidiary and don't actually touch the parcels personally, would be interesting to know which courrier package you used Schlomo or chrisps?

Shipping Art โข UK, USA, Asia, Europe, Australia, by popmozz on Oct 27, 2010 9:36:15 GMT 1, This is not a sale thread but supporting all sales/trades outside London and so maybe giving us all a little less headaches?
Again and again we are all looking for companies doing a good job in packing, shipping, customs clearance and and and..
Receiving goods from a dozen of shipping agents all have a different tracking & trace system (some have non), some deliver on weekends some dont even give any information at all (ok, refering to the service level you booked). And if we sell one of our babies it starts all again.
I get many - even framed - artwork never had a bigger problem so far. But last two experience with a huge US-courier were really awful. One piece they shipped back into the States after three days and two delivery attemps. Second piece - a bigger sculpture - high in value - was just dropped in front of my house, people passing by the whole day...
So maybe it is time to pick up this topic and looking for who is best, who is worst and maybe getting kind of framework with at least some specialists.
If that was posted and approached (and failed) before, sorry for waisting your time reading this.
But I think we all would profit from the experiences we all together made with shipping agents from/to UK - US - Europe - Asia - Australia.
What do you think - a poll for each continent could help???
I know wrong chapter - but I would like to give it the best attention in a first attempt. If not needed happy Silky to delete this or push into another stream.

Shipping Art โข UK, USA, Asia, Europe, Australia, by wizzy on Oct 27, 2010 9:51:38 GMT 1, If you want bombproof and excellent shipping then you should buy from Harveyn, it takes hours to unpack a piece as he crates and packs so well and also you have enough bubble wrap and card to keep you going for years!. As far as other shippers are concerned i have never had any problems with UPS but im sure others may have?.

Based on previous deals with Harveyn you'd get a package the size of a bath tub if you bought a Slinkachu close shave off him.
As far as other couriers go I just avoid Royal Mail. I think they have a very good football team on their nightshift coz everything I've sent through them before has got the sh*t kicked out of it.

Flight logistics make it nice and painless, good communications and price seems pretty fair too

Shipping Art โข UK, USA, Asia, Europe, Australia, by not2serious on Nov 15, 2010 15:03:29 GMT 1, I recently purchased an original painting on board (28" x 36") at an auction house in London, England and need to have it packaged and shipped to the Philadelphia area, USA. The problem is, the auction house does not appear to have a shipper that they deal with to use for this service. Over the past 12+ years, I have purchased a few pieces in Europe from auction houses and never had a problem finding a shipper.
So, I am reaching out to the community to see if they could provide some guidance. I think the bigger issue, would be finding someone to pick-up the piece from the auction house and pack it before shipping. But, this should not be a big deal.
Thank all, N2S
