I have had several mishaps with international shipping. 75% from sellers not knowing how to safely ship art and 25% from postal abuse. My last print from London had a thick tube completely smashed in, damaging the print badly.

Had a chat with Bristol FL and they werent too interested in a single high value shipment.
Any tips, I may have to advise the buyer that is isnt able to be sent insured.

I have been made aware through my enquiries so far that many firms are unwilling to insure this piece without a valuation on headed paper from an art shop or auctioneer confiming it's value. So far I've had quotes ranging from ยฃ120 to ยฃ180 for a courier, which is pretty high for the value of the piece (I would like to keep it stretched rather than removing it from the frame and sending it rolled).
Does anyone know whether I can just walk this into a post office or is it too big. Alternatively does anyone have any others suggestions for a more affordable option - insurance is not required.

Thanks in advance Cheapest courier price via parcel to go was ยฃ124 fedex must be as its over a metre, ..hang on you muppet(not dan) it wont be 200mm deep its probably 2 cm ! Now that is ยฃ30 fedex economy how thick really H ? |

It's a deep box canvas so with decent packaging it probably will be 15-20cm deep. It's not a high value item so seems a little odd to be spending so much on shipping it.

special delivery royal mail has pretty restrictive sizes so anything above that goes to Parcel Force, and there are cheaper/better alternatives to that but its just a case of shopping around.
I did use a company once who specialise in transporting original works of art and they were surprisingly cost effective, will try and dig out their invoice as can't remember what they were called...
... failing that you can't beat a man with a van!!!
