Shipping Art โข UK, USA, Asia, Europe, Australia, by rperry on May 4, 2011 15:50:37 GMT 1, Double tubing and bubble wrap is practically mandatory if you do not want to deal with problems later.
I have had several mishaps with international shipping. 75% from sellers not knowing how to safely ship art and 25% from postal abuse. My last print from London had a thick tube completely smashed in, damaging the print badly.

Shipping Art โข UK, USA, Asia, Europe, Australia, by Rsyok on Jun 15, 2011 11:15:14 GMT 1, Just found this thread after reading prohibited items on interparcel.com as ' Articles of exceptional value (eg, works of art, antiques, precious stones, gold and silver) over ยฃ250' Interparcel deal for DHL FedEx & UPS so I presume its derived from their terms & conditions. They offer insurance up to ยฃ1000 but I presume this insurance does not qualify ?
Had a chat with Bristol FL and they werent too interested in a single high value shipment.
Any tips, I may have to advise the buyer that is isnt able to be sent insured.

Hi all, I am also looking to ship a framed print overseas to the US from the UK. I have been made aware through my enquiries so far that many firms are unwilling to insure this piece without a valuation on headed paper from an art shop or auctioneer confiming it's value. Can anyone please advise me on the best way to sort this out? Thanks!

Shipping Art โข UK, USA, Asia, Europe, Australia, by hlarmy on Feb 23, 2012 16:55:03 GMT 1, Afternoon all
I thought I would tap into the extensive knowledge of the forum members to see whether anyone knows the best way to send a large canvas (110x80x20cm) from the UK to the US. So far I've had quotes ranging from ยฃ120 to ยฃ180 for a courier, which is pretty high for the value of the piece (I would like to keep it stretched rather than removing it from the frame and sending it rolled).
Does anyone know whether I can just walk this into a post office or is it too big. Alternatively does anyone have any others suggestions for a more affordable option - insurance is not required.
Thanks in advance

Shipping Art โข UK, USA, Asia, Europe, Australia, by hlarmy on Feb 23, 2012 23:52:40 GMT 1, Nice try Rob but not quite worth +1 on this occasion...!
It's a deep box canvas so with decent packaging it probably will be 15-20cm deep. It's not a high value item so seems a little odd to be spending so much on shipping it.
Thanks guys

Shipping Art โข UK, USA, Asia, Europe, Australia, by Daniel Silk on Aug 6, 2012 10:50:01 GMT 1, What's the safest and most cost effective way of posting large canvases?
Thought this might be a useful thread, and it's something I have been wondering about. Does the Royal Mail have a size limit on things like this? Or is it best to use other companies? Who would you recommend, and what sort of prices do they charge?

Shipping Art โข UK, USA, Asia, Europe, Australia, by twist65 on Aug 6, 2012 10:57:14 GMT 1, if its an original piece of artwork a lot of couriers won't touch it. special delivery royal mail has pretty restrictive sizes so anything above that goes to Parcel Force, and there are cheaper/better alternatives to that but its just a case of shopping around. I did use a company once who specialise in transporting original works of art and they were surprisingly cost effective, will try and dig out their invoice as can't remember what they were called...
... failing that you can't beat a man with a van!!!
