Bristol protests, by Reader on Mar 31, 2021 17:56:25 GMT 1, No. The government instigated report cleared the COUNTRY of institutional racism; not itself. It says a lot for chips on shoulders that it thought necessary that Tony Sewell ( A person of 'color') was invited to lead the investigation and report on it. If the report had said otherwise, you wouldn't have been able to stop bigot Lammy and Co. Get back in the freezer. Racist posts racist newspaper clipping commissioned by institutional racists that says racism is rampant and a "real force" in a racist Brexit Britain that needs to be tackled. Also, on top of this, the report shows that Government policy has decimated working class communities, leaving the growing poor and expanding precariet at the mercy of food banks and loan sharks. Equality commission finds that you're equally fucked whatever your race.

Bristol protests, by dirtypete on Mar 31, 2021 18:18:23 GMT 1, Thereโs actually some interesting points in between the personal insults. If everyone stopped shouting at each other something useful could come of all this effort.
So many Ad hominem comments, which is a surprise from so many established members.

They both are right in their own ways. The caller is wrong to suggest Lammy can't be English or British, as the Spectator article says. On the other hand, why does somebody of say, Jamaican heritage love Jamaica so much, but not enough to live there, but continue to choose to live here with all the trappings of a successful economy? Of course, they shouldn't have to go there, and the UK needs to get better at weeding out dog whistle racism from the individual. But, apart from online, how difficult is that to do? As a whole, for a small % population, the black community don't do so bad, when compared with 30 to 40 years ago. And quite rightly. The black race has put up with some shit in the past in Britain - but no where near the levels of the US or S. Africa. It is the white working class, who are being left behind. But, because they are white, apparently, they have privilege by dint of skin colour. But, I bet your average unemployed white lad in Middlesbrough doesn't see it like that.
But, if the report of 'No institutional racism in the UK' is so wrong, as Lammy obviously purports, why stay here? Is it going to take mob violence and fireballs to change their perception of 'racist' Britain and burn the white supremacy out? Obviously, according to some of the more violent tendencies on here...yes!

But, if the report of 'No institutional racism in the UK' is so wrong, as Lammy obviously purports, why stay here? Is it going to take mob violence and fireballs to change their perception of 'racist' Britain and burn the white supremacy out? I appreciate people from different sides of this argument discussing in a courteous manner, shouting and calling names does fuck all. Just going to run through a few things you've said and propose a few things.
Fundamentally, studies have suggested that the white working class who are being 'left behind' is mainly due to the lack of education in poorer areas as the rest of the country demands higher qualifications, this affects poorer minorities but of course on a far lower percentage level. The whole "white privilege" argument by the socially 'progressive' is overused and poorly executed, I understand where they're coming from because being white can have many advantages due to lack of active disadvantage, same with gender. But, like 'defund the police' 'ACAB', the slogan doesn't really describe what it means effectively, this annoys me to no end as I'm a leftie myself, if you have to define that what you're saying doesn't actually mean what you're saying it's redundant. You can't market equality to the majority by insulting them and attaching them to slogans that require ridiculous specification.
Yet, I very much doubt that: 1: The 'white privilege' movement is mainstream enough to affect the economic class system through positive discrimination of minorities. 2: The 'white privilege' movement has been around long enough to make a difference. 3: If the 'white privilege' movement does impact job selection etc it will be greater than the current adversity minorities still face.
I get and respect your points, personally it's the last that I disagree with the most. Lammy has been quite vocal about changing racism pragmatically in the UK, if he experiences it then he shouldn't have to move, it's for us as a country and a society to change. As you say, things are a lot better for minorities, but for Britain we should be setting new standards and not settling for the mediocrity of 'well it's better than most'. Social progress in race, sex, human rights etc have set Britain apart from most, the fact we're arguing over implied/underlying racism and not blatant racism is a good indicator, but we can't settle for that.
I think this is where the left is really missing a trick, the Spectator article shows it, it should be displayed as a patriotic duty to continue to improve our great country beyond expectations, not just settle for it's past achievements, it's not in our heritage. Alongside this, we must recognise the lack of opportunity, education and purpose for the young working class (predominantly white) kids, it's our responsibility to change our outlook to stop the bleeding in those communities.

Bristol protests, by argylepaul on Apr 1, 2021 10:24:49 GMT 1, Why stay here? Because they are from here, and they live here. That's why. I don't totally disagree with that. But this is not the 1970s, 1980s or even 1990s anymore. One more time...Britain IS NOT a institutionally racist country. There is racism AND bigotry, and very sadly there will always be pockets of it - mostly online. Most of it is directed at Jews, as a pretence for attacking Israel.
Why do we have this racial division where somehow (Caribbean) black people are made out to be victims?
And when it comes to skin colour. Why do some races just get on with it? Do you have a problem with the generational families of Ugandan Asians, who came here with very little and just got on with it?
And the high achieving Indians, Chinese and Africans? African parents want the best for their kids, but schools are not allowed to expel Caribbean kids . Where are the fathers?
Society is better for it being better and fairer for ethnic minorities. Society would be far better if we just got rid of the far left

There is a bit of a difference between left wing and the far left, but you must be too thick, too deluded or too angry to realise or accept it. On the contrary, there is only 'Far Right' for anyone who doesn't agree with the 'The Far Left' . Even the Wokeists say that. But, whereas the woke just cry at everything, the 'Far Left's' answer is just death and violence. You and the rest of the agitators on here just answer with Google copy and paste and memes, and when somethjng grates, like asking about missing fathers of Caribbean boys, your reply is: 'Racist' 'Nigel Farage' TOMMMMEEE ROBINSON', Racial Tropes', 'Daily Mail'. Stick your uprising up Karl Marx's arse. He might enjoy the feel of the MMA glove.
Society would be far better if we just got rid of the far left If it wasn't for the far left everyone you mention would be still in chains and Jews would have been eradicated. Bristol protests, by dilu on Apr 1, 2021 11:21:28 GMT 1, 1. Consider how this Policing Bill would have changed the suffragette movement? The Bill is being pushed capitalism; the need at all cost to keep the economy going at all costs. Iโm personally greatly it tends to be a nice white middle class kid or pensioner who chains themselves to a railing because I fear if it were a person from the BAME shit would go down so much heavier.
2. On the issue of white working kids being left behind this stems from 80โs Tory agenda to break the working class unions which is a reaction to unions becoming to powerful for government in the 70โs, and these union aligned to the Labour Party. With traditional industries decimated and no government planning areas have been crucially left behind create white ghettos.
3. Consider multinationals have become so powerful that governments reaction to them, say around taxation is inept, and what?
4. The rise in BAME excelling in education is complex, however when you come from places where you have to walk 5 miles to get to school you learn and share with children work ethic and values, discrimination and resilience but also if you have to work 12 hours for peanuts thatโll do. Iโve worked with adolescents for about thirty years and observed first generation migrated work for peanuts in the hope second generations can secure aspirations however if there are no genuine opportunities we all get left behind because no one wants a life of clean my toilet while getting shouted out and for below the minimum wage.
5. Look at any industry and at the top will generally be a white guy. Not a white woman or BAME. At the top itโs a members club that enjoys watch crabs in buckets endeavouring to escape.

You should start a podcast (or at least a thread in line with your values). From Bristol protests to Absent Caribbean Fathers with a slight hint of anti-Palestine in there, we should move on to LGBTQ rights. Your knowledge of these issues seems to be based on myths, folklore and a series of sensationalised media images in the Daily Fail. Can't wait to see how you position your online "gallery". Looking forward to that one. You have a fine day boss. Don't stress too much about the "other", you'll give yourself a coronary.

Bristol protests, by tab1 on Apr 1, 2021 18:49:47 GMT 1, Why are people showing so much hostility to the crime bill? Why do the general public have little faith in the policing systems? Why do people that feel threatened by Violence do not question the violence and criminal behavior contained within the police force, as noted in the previous links I provided ? Remember these are only the events that have made the media attention, there are many events that contain a gag order, the transparency of unruly conduct is not fairly reported.
If trust was had in the police force these crime bills would not be contested by all sectors and classes of society.
Would be good to hear some members thoughts on banksys involvement with smelly unwashed individuals in the wrong war protests, also their true views on Palestine from those that most likely view the locals as unwashed, intimidating thugs ? The majority of the banksy market has swayed from the artists true views and is more concerned only with monetary value. Too much emphasis placed on judging a person solely by how they look and dress which only increases bigoted opinions and increases the spread of malicious deviant prejudices against groups from insecure individuals.

I have a print from Jenny Holzer that answers that question quite nicely.

Bristol protests, by startimeash on Apr 1, 2021 20:33:43 GMT 1, Paul Weller put it best
โThey smelled of pubs, and Wormwood Scrubs, and too many Right Wing meetingsโ
The BBC banned it. Tony Blackburn said it was โdisgusting the way punks sing about violence. Why canโt they sing about trees and flowers?โ
Seems like youโre either a Paul Weller, or youโre a Tony Blackburn. Chosen my side.
