Bristol protests, by vandamme on Apr 1, 2021 21:24:06 GMT 1, Wow... David lammy probably chooses to stay in the uk because he was born in the uk.
However.... what it sounds like you are saying is because he is black heโs not entitled to have love for another country and he should be grateful to be in the uk and should just be quiet.
Would you say the same about a white person born in the uk who loves Australia? Would you suggest that individual is only staying in the uk because of all its trappings? For me both suggestions just sounds strange
Tell me, who's the bigot in this exchange?
They both are right in their own ways. The caller is wrong to suggest Lammy can't be English or British, as the Spectator article says. On the other hand, why does somebody of say, Jamaican heritage love Jamaica so much, but not enough to live there, but continue to choose to live here with all the trappings of a successful economy?ย Of course, they shouldn't have to go there, and the UK needs to get better at weeding out dog whistle racism from the individual. But, apart from online, how difficult is that to do? As a whole, for a small % population, the black community don't do so bad, when compared with 30 to 40 years ago. And quite rightly. The black race has put up with some shit in the past in Britain - but no where near the levels of the US or S. Africa.ย It is the white working class, who are being left behind. But, because they are white, apparently, they have privilege by dint of skin colour. But, I bet your average unemployed white lad in Middlesbrough doesn't see it like that. But, if the report of 'No institutional racism in the UK' is so wrong, as Lammy obviously purports, why stay here? Is it going to take mob violence and fireballs to change their perception of 'racist' Britainย and burn the white supremacy out? Obviously, according to some of the more violent tendencies on here...yes!

It's a huge part of the problem that some people claim doesn't exist.

Bristol protests, by tab1 on Apr 2, 2021 0:47:03 GMT 1, The UK's nuts Wednesday : Officially not institutionally racist Thursday : Nazi Police This guy was reported by his school for his extremist views . As shown here no matter how subtle individuals try to articulate their thoughts with regards to race their leftist or right wing views become clear in their mannerism of speech towards the subject. This officer was employed for two years and would of been closely monitored as he was on probation, his superiors would have been trained to pick up on right wing views and traits, it would of been highly likely that this individual expressed his bigoted thoughts in the workplace, again shows the failures in the system to stamp out this conduct as this type of toxic conversations are held quite commonly in the workplace www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/race-report-boris-johnson-authors-b1825516.html

But, that is all you need to (try and) start a 'revolution', isn't it!

Bristol protests, by argylepaul on Apr 2, 2021 10:02:23 GMT 1, I appreciate people from different sides of this argument discussing in a courteous manner, shouting and calling names does fuck all. Just going to run through a few things you've said and propose a few things. Fundamentally, studies have suggested that the white working class who are being 'left behind' is mainly due to the lack of education in poorer areas as the rest of the country demands higher qualifications, this affects poorer minorities but of course on a far lower percentage level. The whole "white privilege" argument by the socially 'progressive' is overused and poorly executed, I understand where they're coming from because being white can have many advantages due to lack of active disadvantage, same with gender. But, like 'defund the police' 'ACAB', the slogan doesn't really describe what it means effectively, this annoys me to no end as I'm a leftie myself, if you have to define that what you're saying doesn't actually mean what you're saying it's redundant. You can't market equality to the majority by insulting them and attaching them to slogans that require ridiculous specification. Yet, I very much doubt that: 1: The 'white privilege' movement is mainstream enough to affect the economic class system through positive discrimination of minorities. 2: The 'white privilege' movement has been around long enough to make a difference. 3: If the 'white privilege' movement does impact job selection etc it will be greater than the current adversity minorities still face. I get and respect your points, personally it's the last that I disagree with the most. Lammy has been quite vocal about changing racism pragmatically in the UK, if he experiences it then he shouldn't have to move, it's for us as a country and a society to change. As you say, things are a lot better for minorities, but for Britain we should be setting new standards and not settling for the mediocrity of 'well it's better than most'. Social progress in race, sex, human rights etc have set Britain apart from most, the fact we're arguing over implied/underlying racism and not blatant racism is a good indicator, but we can't settle for that. I think this is where the left is really missing a trick, the Spectator article shows it, it should be displayed as a patriotic duty to continue to improve our great country beyond expectations, not just settle for it's past achievements, it's not in our heritage. Alongside this, we must recognise the lack of opportunity, education and purpose for the young working class (predominantly white) kids, it's our responsibility to change our outlook to stop the bleeding in those communities. - An old working class lad Fuck me can someone end this lockdown already I can't believe I just wrote all that shite on an art forum
At last...a balanced, eloquent way of putting things. I am sick and tired of some on here just dismissing everything as racism, whenever certain cultural criticisms need to be made (Without feeling you've offended) and whenever cultural issues need to be addressed. Twisting words about David Lammy having to 'go elsewhere', etc, etc. That is not what was said. It's similar to how two different newspapers report on the same story, but change their headlines and narrative to twist it to their and their readers' way of thinking.
Can't we ALL just get on?
As you say, all these words and insults on an art forum.

You have only been on here a few weeks. Have you just joined to troll and post this shit? It's hardly trolling when it's the exact theme of the thread, and one where there's a general consensus that the bill is a bad thing, and protesting it good. So if anyone is "trolling" this thread, then it's you. Might I suggest you go start your own thread, I don't know "Authoritarian Simps" or something. But maybe stop trolling on this one. We get it. Slippery slope, communists, political correctness gone mad, coming over er stealing our jobs, vegan sausage rolls, George Orwell was right, Only doing their jobs etc etc... yawn. People are sharing music, art, links, history, art, information and values on this thread that all align with street art and its related cultures, they have been doing so on this forum for 15 years. We get you're on the right of the political spectrum, good for you, well done, but cool it with the trolling on here hey.

Ultimately, I am standing up to violent uprising, where policemen get set alight. A right to protest and discuss with unions and govt to make change, absolutely, and the govt ensuring people across the UK can live better lives which are fulfilled, and where they don't go hungry. That really upsets me: the hunger. But I object to the propensity for a re-start to year Zero, where history, the flag, freedom of speech by the centre right, Brexiteers, climate deniers etc, is expunged or rewritten or reimagined.
I hate PC (Always have done), I hate soppy woke crying over the slightest of things, and the badge of honour 'mental health' that is the norm now. People have 'mental health issues' because their Instagram account is down.
And I hate (Really hate) violent extremists, whether they are far left or far right.

The flag, oh no, not the flag... bloody wokesters, coming over ere, expunging our racism and reimagining our flag with their mental health issues, denying our British climate, how dare they, makes my genuine British blood boil. Itโs understandable the confusion and anger, where when you are on a forum discussing your opinions when everyone is aligned to your theories and have praise for ignorant views then discuss here and there is more equal and sensible opinions and the perception of their warped views are broken down. these individuals assume as they are not using direct racist terminologies and assume they are articulating their views in a logical manner that they are right, but questioning their views can cause fear, anxiety and insecurities for those with ignorant prejudices when questioning their ideologies and misaligned warped view of their world.the sentiment of underlying hate is clear to see, the trolling now is also clear

Exeter woman brutality murdered on her way home from a night out and dismembered and left to rot in different locations throughout the city, murdered by a failed asylum seeker who should of been deported. Come on, don't be shy. Fixed it for ya.

Iโve never been a fan of people rewriting what someone posts and trying to project their presumed views. If you always automatically think the worst of people who hold differing views youโll never find an accord.

If you always automatically think the worst of people who hold differing views youโll never find an accord. Fair enough, personally I think it's important to apply a little critical thinking and to read between the lines when someone tries to make correlations between two very disprarate topics. I.e Policing protests and the underlying problems of right wing police. And say for example, I dont know.. a failed asylum seeker murdering someone in Essex. But no, you're right. I could have made that argument in a better way.

Interesting choice of phrase though. Not sure what's more worrying "supposed racism" or "sub-species" No ulterior (sinister) motive there I am afraid. Never has been. Just a pun to indicate those violent tendencies of others.
You must be the sort of person that just has to have the last say. As I am sure you will be back with another retort; As well the others. Bit boring now, I'm afraid. Here you go, reply to this: Do you think Banksy will do a piece about what's currently happening in Bristol?

Bristol protests, by Fะฏ on Apr 3, 2021 18:27:15 GMT 1, Here come the punchy, violent, provocative coward crap bags (and i donโt mean the police). this lot are a sorry disgrace for left wing supporters (like me)
Shameful and does not represent anything good after a great march. thuggish internal terror with pre-meditated violence is not to be tolerated and the wrong message.
was wonderfully peaceful until they turned up. immediately inciting the police to pull out batons by chucking shit at them for no reason.
do not use a peaceful protest as an opportunity to cause trouble without being arrested.

The guy here in the middle looks like he got caught up in the crossfire on the way to tesco.

Just looking on bbc for the story, not a freakinโ peep . And I pay for that shit , they must still hold a grudge against the police over disbanding their pedo ring . It's just an indication of how laughable, divisive and fearful of offence, UK society has become, when a banner that says 'Kill Cops' can be seen as acceptable - as normal as 'Ban the Bomb.' or 'Save the Planet'. And the same people on here who applaud that, would also turn a blind eye to say a 'Kill Jews' banner. But, then would foam at the mouth with outrage if a far right group had a 'Kill' banner of their own. You must have high-fived at the death of the 'white cop' in the US. Apparently, no mention of the Nation of Islam affiliation - or his race - only that, he was 'troubled.'

Agreed, idiotic, talk about shooting yourself in the foot. Would love to hear the back story, which I'm sure will come out. The guy pretty much ID himself, he's going to jail.
