As I understand it, he's been given the Gagosian space for 18 months to display whatever he wants. I'm not sure how much notice he was given, but it comes across as a hastily thrown together collection of random works spanning his career to date with a bit of piss-taking around Covid stations etc.
I spoke to staff and they said it will be changing/evolving as time goes on so I'd expect it to become a bit more joined up as time goes on.
Despite the randomness, I enjoyed it - it wasn't the typical spots, sharks and butterflies etc and I thought it was interesting. Its worth having a look at DH's IG as he gives more background on the pieces.
If you want a decent Hirst greatest hits show, the Newport Street Gallery had that before lockdown and may well reopen with that next month - hope so, as I'd like to go back and see it again.
