Art Car Boot Fair, by jamieb on Oct 5, 2020 9:07:03 GMT 1, Just got in with only a minute queue.
Loads of stuff left and the site is working as it should have.
On the developer note of course it's their fault.
You can't expect ACBF to have developed the website themselves.
No different to getting 3 quotes from builders to build and extension, you chose the one who sounds like they will do a great job at an acceptable price only to find out they are a cowboy and do a shit job. How would that be my fault.

Art Car Boot Fair, by kickthecat on Oct 5, 2020 18:11:33 GMT 1, If any of you managed to purchase anything launched for the ACBF - whether though the ACBF site, from seller direct, artist Instagram or from a gallery site - i hope you will not ask for a refund as without ACBF - none of this art would have been for sale at these prices. (it will help pay for a better server)
Thanks do go to the artist and galleries who did all they could to help those who wanted to buy...

Art Car Boot Fair, by carly on Oct 5, 2020 20:13:24 GMT 1, Completely disgraceful how @artcarboot are blaming the developer of the site for this shit show. They (Art Car Boot) knew the amount of tickets sold and therefore = how many trying to access the site and should have checked. Trying to pass the buck is really shitty. Also I cant check out, is that not the developers fault?
It went wrong the week before they had plenty of time to seek alternative advice. A total shit show the blame rests with them

Their hosting company deserves a LOT of blame here (this is my job, so bear with me). They should have been using something like AWS to manage the load - the more visitors you get, the more servers you spin up, and it's done in seconds, not minutes or days! There is a cost to that, of course, but for a burst activity such as this, where the site will be quiet, save for a few hours of intense use, not to use it (or something similar) is unforgivable. The problem comes when a customer who is not technically minded (I'm going to go out on a limb and assume the ACBF team are not) has to purchase a technical product. There is no way for them to really judge the quality of their supplier's offering without trying it. And once the first attempt failed, there is either the option of trying to set up with a completely new company in the space of a couple of weeks, or accept the assurances of the current company when they say it won't happen again. Usually this is accompanied by a very technical "explanation" of what supposedly went wrong. I can't honestly blame the ACBF folks for this. Maybe a little naive, but I've seen too many similar fiascos to be surprised...

That said - when I bought it, it was an edition of 30. The print on hand is an edition of 60 ( the other three colours are still Ed 30 ) Doesn't really matter, still a bit strange....
