Art Car Boot Fair, by speebe on Jun 24, 2011 18:53:36 GMT 1, Just got back from almost 24 hours queuing. Managed to bag a Hirst being one of the first 25 who were ticketed. All was kosher in the run up to the event, no queue jumping outside, everyone got on... UNTIL....we were let in. After first 25 had purchased The queue was jumped/bombarded by people (including some prominant forum members) who had not quieued for s**t, mainly friends of stall holders/ organisers / press people etc. who had managed to worm their way in. Which completely ruined it for maybe 30-40 odd people that had queued for hours. Such, such poor and completely unfair organisation, with a mate of mine and a few friendly faces from previous banksy queuers missing out.. I think its disgraceful that people who hadn't queued at all bagged such an amazing print. and by the way they released 20 box sets and 23 individuals Hit the nail on the head. There were a lot of people who were mysteriously in the queue at the Turps stall who weren't queuing outside. One guy told me there were two entrances and two queues and they'd opened the other gate first (not sure if there was any truth in this). Also forum members taking photos of he queue who then mysteriously appeared in the queue at the front and people with black rather than red stamps...  If the organisers had allowed Turps to give raffle tickets to the first 43 to guarantee a single Hirst or a box set it would have saved a lot of grief and hassle. There were a lot of very upset people and once again a number are going to people that don't deserve them
Has anyone that Marcus pulled to one side and spoke to after this debacle heard from him...?
A small number of us that had patiently queued (and were in the first 40) who found that bunch of festering, underhand wankers who had taken our places (behind the the initial 25) heard from him............??
He took mobile numbers from and promissed to offer some form of compensation
"Not a print", he made that very clear.
Any word anyone???

Didn't win, but actually the gold card was blank on the reverse with nothing to write a name on. No letter came with it either and they kept the display box. It was all a bit of a let down to the winner. @ skitchy - I understand what you are saying about GT (see my previous posts) I don't get the eggs, tyre prints, boot prints, bits of tramac etc - however I thought the cc was something different, affordable, an edition and Oh! I like it! 
My friend won 2nd prize,but has no idea what it will be.

Working out a strategy as to how they could glean as many Hirst's as possible, discussing the possible values of the artists if they had to buy the dreaded the set.

Skitchy the other ยฃ6k+ set is number 42, he/she got to be close around u in the queue. I think the sets started from #26 on the day. So that should be someone at around 20th ish in the queue.

It's even worse that a person on this thread has the temerity to question people on eBay when all they did was keep going on about buying sets to sell, in order to get as many Hirst's as possible (again to sell on).

If you have a problem you have my phone number I am more than happy to discuss it in person rather from behind a keyboard. In regards to 'having to buy the set' I was 9th in the queue so that really wasn't in issue for me, I wouldn't of even been able to even afford the set regardless. JKW the print number system was a shambles they gave everyone at the front including me a chapman brothers print by accident so I ended up getting a really high number when they sorted it out.

Chapmans effort seems to be more tame than their usual stuff and its fairly wall friendly. Marcus' doesn't release too many prints, but I love his painting style and that through distorted glass look. It's nice you can see the paint strokes on the print as well. I don't know much about Ryan Mosley, but I like that print and as I'm getting all other 3 prints, it's foolish not to go for the set.
