Added to the fact that you had to stand there while full invoices where filled in with a quill for hours.

Art Car Boot Fair, by Deleted on Oct 10, 2019 14:42:14 GMT 1, Each to their own etc etc but it’s basically a £600 autograph. Artistically, it’s nothing. A coloured-in giraffe isn’t a Paul Insect original any more than his hand-written shopping list would be.

Art Car Boot Fair, by Jaylove on Oct 10, 2019 15:34:08 GMT 1, I was told this is a drawing that Paul Insect has had on the wall of his studio for many years. They are screen printed and hand coloured and signed! Better than a small print with couple of eyes for a similar price i would say.
Flippers are going to take a bath on this one. If you’re a collector I get it.

Different level, but I'm always amazed by some of the Damien Hirsts you see at auction. Some of them literally look like his signed shopping list. A scribbled shark and a butterfly and boom it's worth a grand or two. No idea who buys this stuff. Or what they do with it.
In any case, if one of my favourite artists did a good looking scribble and some colouring in I think I'd be very happy.

Having something touched by one of your idols is a totally understandable thing to want. I have things autographed by people I idolise and I treasure them. I think this is memorabilia more than a piece of artwork, but don't begrudge anyone enjoying it.

Interesting take - guess I would put it somewhere in the middle. But still found it great value at 600 for what it is. It was a bum fight to buy the tiny prints at 400, tho they are of course the much preferred eyes style. But for something substantial size and hand done it looks cheap if you’re a fan and especially vs prices for small doodles by other artists indeed
