As for your other comments, accusing the man of stealing is a very serious thing. You may not like him, but what does that have to do with anything. I don't like many shopkeepers either, many are rude these days. Doesn't mean I won't shop there.

As for your greed comment, you sound jealous. Come to think of it, you sound more like an art dealer, who doesn't like the competition.

Maybe I sound biast, but I have bought from Hessink's many times. I always received good advise, and I always got a guarantee from them. True, they are not Sotheby's or Christie's, but what they sell is good. 

I do hope they do well. I like this auction house and what they sell. As for the owner, he maybe rude at times but he is dead honest. I can't say that for many others. 

As for this nonsense of steeling every idiot starts with. If Banksy sprayed a piece on my house or garden fence, I would sell it and it would be perfectly legal. You put it on my property, then I am the new owner. I don't understand any of you who are whining about stealing. Picasso drew on restaurant napkins al the time, I don't hear them complaining.

Impossible task unless you steal photos from all over the Internet and even then there are pieces like the one at Marble Arch that have never been claimed.

Any auction house that sales Banksy items without COAs should be avoided imo.

That is just dumb talk. What about all the other artists out there, that do not have their own pest control. Like Rembrand or Vermeer, what about the Mona Lisa. You are saying that only the artist can give a certificate.
Which is basically the butcher, that preforms quality control on his own meat.

Actually, Most auction houses have an agreement with Pest Control. Meaning they get P.C. certified pieces to sell if they choose not to sell the street pieces. An auction house, no matter who they are, would never pass on a piece of art valued at $500,000.

Which also means, that a form of Monopoly is being played here by Banksy and Pest Control. Last I looked this form of business was illegal.

Now I would not hold it against the big two, as they have been caught many times now rigging the market with illegal price fixing, selling that fake Leonardo DaVinci, and now that so called Shredded work by Banksy, which they first sold as an older piece (sounded more like a publicity stunt, which worked well for the unknowing), even selling a Banksy print for 400.000 when similar ones were being sold at that same time for 60.000. I mean come on. Some rich people throw with their money, but over paying that much. It just doesn't add up.

And anyways, Bansky is a street artist, not a print artist. He is famous for his Street Work. Imaging if the Paintings of Rembrand were worth only $50,000 and his prints (which there are thousands of) were worth millions. You would say the world is upside down. A print is nothing more than a poster, printed in a limited amount, so what if he scribbled his name on it. A poster is a poster. No, I am much happier with an original street piece on my wall than a poster. As I would consider, your poster inferior to the original.

Ok, so now you can order Hessink's Catalogue Raisonné of Banksy’s Street Art. I don't want to give them any free advertising, but it will come out anyway.

As I wrote before I don't think they do it out of the goodness of their heart, but just to legitimise their auctions of Banksy street art.

Judging by the sampler: en.calameo.com/read/006161724f2f7a7a83c35 it seems like it will look like shit too. And there are some doubtful examples there. The skiing monkey? No, wonder Banksy didn't claim it even if it's his!

And just by a quick look I can identify a couple of my own photographs there. So if there are others that have had their photos stolen we can do a joint invoice of whatever professional photographers charge.

From what I've heard it's not official and has errors which makes it kind of useless as a CR.

You could put what they've put together in a week, probably less considering how poorly designed it is, slide in one or two "drill rats" on wood of your own making and a "skiiing monkey" and you'd be a potential millionaire before you know it. Reading through this thread, I started thinking, if Banksy were truly a man of profound wit, he should take the stencils back to the same locations every so often, after a wall has been cut out or what not, replace the art on the new wall that has been installed and water down the 'value' that the person in possession of the original has. A decade later, the wall owner is like, "Ye ain't feckin' tearing the wall down again, Sod off!" Meanwhile, what was once 'an original' is now merely a 1/10 print on brick and concrete.
