They hope that they can get away with it if no one complains. I managed to get a fake Banksy removed from their auction site before, but they initially tried to fob me off with this excuse first.  After this reply, I then informed the landlord of where they rent their offices - then it got removed.

Have been trying to get as much info as I can about the sellers of these from various auction houses, and a couple have mentioned that they come from a Belgian collector who has a big collection (amazing how big it can get when all you need is some cardboard and a marker pen). Be interested to get more details about exactly where they’re coming from. Unfortunately they’ll just hide behind GDPR, though. My gut feeling is that there are only maybe one or two people flogging these, and they’ve found a willing auctioneer that doesn’t ask too many questions. Louiza Auctions and Experitez seem to have the same lack of due diligence, too… |

Under s.75 of the consumer credit act you can claim all money back immediately from your card company. It then becomes their problem to retrieve money from the auction house. I was once duped into buying a fake Picasso from a US auction house and the auction house wouldn't reply to my refund requests, so I used this method to recover all money. This won't work for debit cards and the purchase must be over £100 and under £30,000.

As such, this lot is sold STRICTLY 'as is' with no guarantees or warranties implied or otherwise, and are sold as attributions to Banksy's Dismaland only. So basically, “we’re saying it’s by Banksy, but we know someone is going to call us out on that, so here’s some boilerplate about how it’s down to you if you end up buying a worthless bit of card” Have emailed them, but doubt I’ll get anything more than what they’ve written there...
