Because that's not how it works. You're not technically buying a physical piece of art yet. That's the whole point of the project.
You don't have to buy any ethereum. You have to set up the Metamask account, which is really easy, then you can pay with a credit card. You don't need any cryptocurrency.

Actually, with the signature, title, watermark, microchip and hologram on the back, I'm beginning to think the back is far more interesting to look at than the front.
You can also see the dots from the back. That's it then, frame the back of the print... or keep it as an nft🙃

Didn’t think I would bag one and still don’t quite know how to purchase it 🙈 but surely gotta be worth it and would deffo want the original on the wall and knowing that over 50,000 missed out is a no brainer…even though I’m gonna have to sell some art now to purchase this one! 🥴 Now i‘m confused. When i purchased mine today and clicked the „reveal“ button this was the one it said i received. 9549 protect from the cold. I even made a screenshot. Now when i log in it has changed amd it‘s a different one. Has that happened to anyone? And how is it possible for you to see which one you got when you didn’t buy it yet?
You can't see your piece until you have paid, but since they look pretty similar you won't get a total shock when you see it.

The seed (12 word combination) will always be the back up regardless I believe. Even if the ledger breaks you should be able to access it with that.

How exactly do you open a mega flow wallet thing! (I’m old) I found that downloading the metamask app and purchasing it from heni directly through the in app browser was straight forward even for a duffer like me, and it links to the wallet automatically.
Was this on a phone, iPad etc? I don’t have a computer so will be trying to use the mobile Metamask app…

Its an assigned value system based on what a computer algorithm makes of each picture. An average across all 10,000. Not so relevant to the appreciation of each individual physical work - unless you scrutinise pictures like a 1980's computer |

One thing that I find curious is that the vast majority of publicity for “The Currency” has taken place or been released after the initial application period. If you didn’t already follow the artist, or if you weren’t already a member of an art forum, or if you weren’t active in the world of NFT’s, you would only be finding out about the project now. For most people, the only opportunity to secure 1 of the 10,000 would be on the secondary market.
Now if I’m the Hirst/Heni team fresh after filling up their crypto wallets from “The Virtues” release, I would be continuing to build up “The Currency” release hype all the while being ready to manipulate the market in an upward trajectory as soon as the NFT’s enter the wild.
Hirst is holding 1000 NFT’s which would only appreciate in value and he stands to generate a commission from each future digital sale. If each NFT is worth a small fortune, it also only serves to add to his legacy and legendary status. I can’t wait to see how it all plays out.
