He’s making somewhere around $20m from these at least. Bear in mind, some of that cash goes to Heni. In fact, it's not unusual for galleries to take 40% of all sales. So that would mean Hirst would get around 12 mil and Heni would get a staggering 8 million. And they don't even have any printing costs to pay for!
I imagine a few 100k squids went to an agency for that website though

Yes, you can still change to the physical within the 12 month period.

Smart contracts and various blockchain tech was very nascent back then but there was already discussions about various ways of digitising COA etc. Ethereum really started going in 2014/2015 as a concept. Whether Hirst was aware of this, who knows? Maybe just hired a larger intern class and gave them a few days work.

I don't understand why people would even consider 'buying' someone else's congratulations e-mail. In case people are unaware, the e-mail doesn't allow you to buy one. The e-mail link simply leads you to the standard Heni page where you have to enter your e-mail address. So for the e-mail to be successful, you would have to use the other person's e-mail address. If you use your own, it wont come up as a win. Using someone else's e-mail account could result in all sorts of difficulties further down the line.
But for sure I am interested to talk to people who still have valid Heni emails.
