Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Deleted on Jul 26, 2021 15:49:42 GMT 1, I would say a good 75% of those on here who've won have said they want to keep the original and put it on the wall. i would say a good 70% of those would be buying with a view in the future sooner or later to selling or trading rather than keeping forever. They might find its worth 100x more as an NFT. that is the fun I don't know if I agree that most people here are planning to sell the physical painting at some point. It wouldn't be my intention, because I know I'd never get another Hirst original, though obviously having the option is nice.
But completely agree that part of the fun is how your mind might be changed by its financial value as an NFT.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Terry Fuckwitt on Jul 26, 2021 15:55:47 GMT 1, It's funny, this forum will shit all over certain artists for releasing "too many prints ", but foams at the mouth for Hirst. You all may want to learn some art history and look up Salvador Dali and his secondary market.
Hey denagative, who's this Dali you speak of? Is it a pseudonym for Hirst?

And I would love to meet them so I could ask to see such a pice of art with my own eyes. How many people would say “hey…can’t wait to see your NFT…” From the little I understand, I don't think NFTs are considered in the same way as art, really. They're assets. It's about owning it, not displaying it. The project's called Currency for a reason.
But you could equally argue that owning the physical painting is not about the painting itself, but just having something by a huge artist. None of us got to choose our painting, so we didn't pick something we loved. We just want a Hirst. They're not amazing artworks. They're simple and easy to like. The project itself is the amazing artwork.
Is wanting a painting you didn't choose especially different to wanting an NFT?

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by teabaggins on Jul 26, 2021 15:58:16 GMT 1, I get it, maybe i'm just old now, but I would never buy something if i didn't intend on enjoying it. Can you enjoy an NFT as much as the original is what i'm asking myself here. You have the ability to have both digital and original. I find it hard to believe you can enjoy the NFT solely alone however and to me that means it's only about money and not about the art at that point. Theres better investments potentially for 2k out there than an NFT of a Damien Hirst. He will no doubt release a million more. It's all well and good to say you would cherish the original but the simple fact is that everyone (probably) has their price. I'm not saying the NFT price will get to 50k, but if it did I'd be happily selling it in a heartbeat to be honest. That is kind of the whole challenge from Hirst with this project, at what point is it interchangeable for cash for you. This. Its all an interesting conversation.
When did it actually become looked down upon to be financially stable or god forbid, financially successful. Isn't that what the majority of people spend their lives working for? Or do most people just love the grind of it.
Who wouldn't trade an object, a thing, for a layer of security? (Isn't that what we do will bank notes?) Would someone really prioritize their own esteem over their physiological and safety needs? Does your self proclaimed "real collector" status somehow have more value or is that just huberis. Does it become easier to do if the thing being traded is in digital form?
Money can not buy happiness but us sure as shit can relieve a lot of unhappiness for a lot of people. Im not sure we can say that having one of these on a wall or in a digital wallet can have the same effect on most.

This is thought provoking. I never really thought of that. There will be tech like you describe, and if/when NFT’s catch on, companies will fill the void of consumers wanting to display their NFT art, in the best way possible, resembling a physical painting on a wall.
Essentially the consumers of this NFT project will have a Hirst original that’s as large as the digital file will go before pixelating, which could be huge, compared to the small physical one. Fuck me, that really is something to think about.

Better yet take the original as why try to display an NFT when you could have the real thing

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by damo on Jul 26, 2021 17:03:00 GMT 1, I don't think anyone should underestimate Damien/Heni's ability, or willingness, to manipulate markets. They will be sitting on $18m cash and a spare 1000 NFTs. So presumably they have ability and means to push up the underlying value of the NFT's in that first year prior to the deadline if they want to (or equally not to let the whole thing crash and burn). I am as committed as anyone to swapping to the physical but I won't do that the first chance I get, when I have so much time to choose. If the underlying price of the NFT then exceeds the value of the art itself (a 'value' that's determined purely by supply and demand at the end of the day) then that will plant some doubts in my mind. I am guessing these things are driven by demand, and momentum. He can create the former himself, and that leads to the latter.
I don't understand it all, and I want the original, but lets not pretend the majority of people aren't at least interested in the potential financial implications. It's turning into a far more interesting exercise than I originally interpreted it as being.

Cherry prints are exchanging hands at well over sales price and it seems likely these will given the total interest / applications (although some of these will be fake) so perhaps he demand is simply able to cope so far.

If Hirst does implode his own market, so? Part of the game on this one, isn't it?

But for sure I am interested to talk to people who still have valid Heni emails. Yes, I know what you're saying. But I am sending out a general warning to anyone (including you) that you could run in to a lot of problems later on if you use a valid Heni e-mail from someone who is not buying the NFT. If you really want one (NFT or artwork), I would recommend you wait for another couple of months and buy one from a flipper on e-bay. There will literally be hundreds for sale then.
Once the nft are in wallets the email logins wont matter There will likely be another thing after on heni like an exchange to send it to from metamask

Yeh you won't need emails anymore, it would defeat the point.
You would probably just have to send your NFT to the burn address and then you would get sent the original. The NFT is the proof of ownership, nothing else needed

That is what i am saying -Your wallet is not connected though to email, its on the blockchain It has nothing to do with heni. Once you get the nft then thats heni done unless you want to use the exchange.
Getting the real version would probably require sending the nft to the exchange. Anyone can do this who buys the nft
Therefore when you buy from an email just keep record of receipts on purchase if you like order and wait for it to go into your wallet. Doubt you will need that heni login ever again
