NFT Art , by kuni on Mar 31, 2021 2:46:41 GMT 1, Faile has a drop tomorrow on niftygateway and i like what i see.
niftygateway.com/collections/faile
niftygateway.com/collections/faileopen
Some nice pieces in the mix, i'll probably pick up the Too Big to Faile open edition and go for a few of the lower probability drawings. Cool to see the Modern Living piece animated and the Wonder Fall piece is classic Faile.
They took some heat on their instagram for doing this drop but they took it in stride and explained that they've been doing digital art for almost a decade.
Anyway, some of the better art to grace the interwebs lately.

NFT Art , by Deleted on Apr 1, 2021 8:05:39 GMT 1, People comparing NFTs vs tangible art to MP3s vs CDs, or similar, are viewing this incorrectly, I think. It doesn't seem it's really a technology issue. The question isn't whether people will embrace digital art, it's whether people, long-term, will pay vastly more for digital art than they would for tangible art. It's hard to see a good reason why anyone would.
If the whole point is bragging rights, why are the bragging rights for owning a digital Faile edition worth $5,000, while the bragging rights for owning a tangible Faile edition are a few hundred dollars? Even factoring in 'kids prefer digital stuff', the sums make no sense. Faile is just an example. The same would apply to most established artists who've just started doing NFTs.
From what others have said, it seems that the prices can't be kept low because of the cost of 'mining' (I only vaguely understand this, but think I grasp the basics). You could do lower-priced huge editions to cover the cost, but then you kill the exclusivity that seems to be the whole point. So you're paying a premium for the cost of production, if I've understood properly.
It surely can't be a sustainable market? You can't buy into emerging artists at low cost, so it doesn't serve people buying for art rather than investment. All evidence shows that most works lose value immediately after release, so it seems highly risky for those just in it for investment. So who is it for?

NFT Art , by vernaxley on Apr 1, 2021 19:40:29 GMT 1, Stick the word crypto in front of anything and watch it fly into the hands of those who missed out on Bitcoin.
NFT is art for people that don't understand art, but who are looking for a digital investment. And that's the problem: why invest in something you don't understand?
It will only really work if enough people buy into it. The two main problems are: the entry prices are too high and some of the imagery on offer is just fucking awful.
Anyone who knows art knows that the image is king and can have a very direct affect on the value of the piece.
I can see a lot of people losing a lot of money.
It's been tried before. You can pick up digital art from some top names as cheap as £35.(see www.seditionart.com/). I can't ever see them increasing in value.
Nor can I see most NFTs ever paying back the money already invested in them.

This bit was illuminating
Lemercier believes the main NFT marketplaces are reluctant to invest in the transition to Proof of Stake or adopt the scaling solution—as Palm has—because the boom may soon be over. He says: “The underlying narrative is that they won’t spend any time on scaling because the bubble is going to burst anyway.”

There are loads of low cost NFTs. Your argument is a bit like saying "people can't afford a Van Gogh, so art is pointless". Or better still "the average person can't afford a banksy print, so urban art is pointless".
Personally I'll always prefer physical art over digital art of course. But I collect vinyl and use spotify. There's going to be room for both.

A load of nonsense set up a couple months back, AltCoin worth > 1bn already but you can only transfer in money not out.
You invest in the Social Capital of influencers and celebrities; which equates to pure nonsense

From the very beginning, it was a strengthening of ETH.
You had quite a few new accts on here volcanically pushing NFT this NFT that, meanwhile from my corner desk I sent out a memo staying yo buy the underlying asset , ETH.
