Javier Calleja 🇪🇸 Málaga, Spain • Drawings • Sculture, by orchid on Jun 14, 2019 18:30:57 GMT 1, is there an online store to buy the prints? or an email contact? what is the price of an original? thank u. A) unfortunately not online this release, possibly next B) you have to email the galleries he works with, and they'll tell u lots of us have been emailing for years now C) varies, but line is very, very long and even big money people are being looked past at this point. Lots of us are still "waiting" since 2016ish. With still no hope in site. They come up on secondary every so often, but you've got to move very fast Hope that helps. Sounds like a bit of a mystery and a long line, because unfortunately it is
Love the 'long line' spiel that galleries give and collectors swallow, see it more often now with the in artists of the time, helps keep the hype and mystique alive. The prices, not just of Javier, but many other exponential artists are unsustainable, they have CRASH written all over them in the long - term. Good luck if you have the cash and like the risk. Many artists here have followed the same path.

well I agree that galleries do lie sometimes I'm not sure that this is the case in this situation being that I know myself and at least 20 other people have literally been trying to throw money down their throats for a few years now.. they love saying there are lines but they also love money they would have taken it if pieces were available

Javier Calleja 🇪🇸 Málaga, Spain • Drawings • Sculture, by Express Post on Jun 14, 2019 23:25:48 GMT 1, He has a lot on demand atm. Selling 210 prints for €2,800 before tax says a lot.
His gallery prices haven't gone up exponentially. €19k before tax+shipping for a 1m canvas isn't a stretch. Neither is €6-7k for a 100cm*70cm work on paper.
Crazy is when the Kaws karimoku edition that originally cost €3k from Colette sold at auction for US$250,000. Or an 8 inch canvas sells for US$271,000.

Several willing to spend current pricing, possibly more. including myself if I could get a small canvas or paper work.. funny is being denied by the same gallery I bought my charcoal original from a few years back, and I've been on their list for a second piece since the day we finished that transaction

Had a 180cm x 110cm piece sent from paris to los angeles for 690 euros. Flight Logistics built a custom crate for a 160cm x 122cm framed canvas for 765 pounds.

That's the painful truth.. hopefully I can work a trade, I don't mind losing Banksy or Kaws.. but we should all have another print chance next year at least

Not saying kaws is a fair comparison, but I believe Javier had his first solo in 2003, and first group show a couple years earlier which technically puts them in the same "professional" career stage. Altho obviously kaws had a lot of street work prior.
Again not comparing, but NYC/NJ area start VS Spain isn't apples to oranges either
Seems like these talks always come down to money and personal preference. No one here is picking the next million dollar canvases, so why not just buy what we like and enjoy? If it was all money based for me I'd be incredibly bored and have a flat file full of stuff I don't like...
That's not what art is to me
Congrats to everyone that got lucky and like his work, congrats to everyone who doesn't like it so therefore doesn't care. This forum hops on each other's taste too often. More negative than positive, whether artists are proven or not. I don't get it. I get defensive sometimes, but it's when I love something. I truly enjoy how javis work touches me, the positive message in the works, how it makes me feel to look at them when I pass one by etc. Not to mention I like him as a person.. i thought that's what this is all about?
Otherwise why not venture into real estate, stock market, etc?
