Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by weaver on Sept 1, 2008 10:52:40 GMT 1, Since it's such an underwhelming show, I have a feeling there might be some nice scores to be had. Got my eye on the Bomb Hugger and Radar Rat. Two classics. that was until you pointed out to everyone that there were classic prints at possible knock down prices.......

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by guest2 on Sept 1, 2008 11:01:27 GMT 1, This auction is being slated but hey, it's got a great supine, some kaws and mcgee which is rare, invader originals, a wicked matt small, a great swoon, a decent choe (i sold that), some ok faile originals, some good banksy - mix this up with some really really good modern design furniture, some sculpture, other contemporary art/photography and the fact that it's on a saturday, and I'd say it's a poss recipe for success.
I'll be there for sure.

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by weaver on Sept 1, 2008 11:13:58 GMT 1, I received the catalogue on friday and its god some smashing oieces in there, quite jelous I'm not going to be there. The funny thing is even if they were giving away Faile originals, someone would find something to moan about. Must say I rose an eyebrow to the 25% surcharge, seems a bit steep, especially at those prices. Does anyone know if you then have to pay Vat on top of that? gulp.

Point taken but who would buy a banksy from ebay these days. Infact Who'd buy anything from ebay unless you knew the seller. Every cowboy out there seems to have jumped on the wagon and selling fake goods, mis-described good, damaged goods etc.
When at auction just take into consideration the commission. In this case, if you are prepared to spend £1000 on something, just bid up to £750 in the room or on the phone and you're done. If you win at £750, you'll end up paying the 1k, you never know though, it may go lower.
One thing is for sure though, either get tdetailed condition report or check it out yourself. I've seen many a thing sell in the room that looks great in the picture but damn awful up close.

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by Prescription Art on Sept 1, 2008 15:05:58 GMT 1, I got my catalogue today... not sure why this auction has been slated so much as I think they've got a great selection of stuff. If I had money to spend i'd definitely be bidding - if they go for guide prices, the L'Atlas piece, the Andre the Giant HPM & the Shrigley drawings look great value.
