I hope it goes well and I'll be watching with interest on Tuesday (16th Oct).

A few highlights, but pretty sedate auction. Failes performed particularly poorly imo.

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by metropolis on Oct 16, 2012 21:45:13 GMT 1, Hi everyone, thanks for all the kind words and interest leading up to the sale. This went very well for us - the big picture is that while a few individual lots may not have performed well, this whole art movement is still a very new thing at US auction houses. So, with 70% sold and auction records set for a number of artists, this was a successful auction for us - a great first step that will allow us to do more in the future.
Some pieces that did very well include a world record for Margaret Kilgallen, a record for David Choe, strong sales for Barry McGee and Shepard Fairey, strong sales for some early graf artists like Duster, TKid and Cope2.
Thanks again for all your support!!!

Saw this print and was in the room. Looked like four faint fingertip marks on the top left side. Not sure if it was on the condition report, but I shied away from a bid because of it.

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by Dr Plip on Nov 5, 2012 21:43:09 GMT 1, Slightly off topic, but does anyone else look at these pieces with their estimates, and just weep.
Weep!
And I don't mean in a sexually excited way.
For a hammer price of $30,000, I'd want the piece to have more of a title than "untitled 2009".
For $40,000, I'd want the artist to stand next to the piece and tell me what it's called, every day for the rest of my life.

For that size it's about right, I imagine everyone involved on the sales side will be expecting it to go well beyond the estimate.
