Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by Richy Rich on Dec 4, 2020 10:40:51 GMT 1, Looks just as important to sell it in the right country at the moment! Some of the NZ and HK results have been astronomical. I wonder how the same exact set of prints would do in one of the big auction houses today on UK soil?

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by Matt on Dec 4, 2020 10:46:51 GMT 1, Can't remember the last ed25 Choose Your Weapon that went through auction. Interesting to see how the HK results compare.
Well I guess we know now !
That is a massive result for the Choose Your Weapon.
What colour was it ?
EDIT Was a yellow one. I wonder if the more sought after colors will fetch more, or if they all have their fans so all worth about the same ?

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by ECL on Dec 4, 2020 10:47:49 GMT 1, Guys, its so important you pick the right auction house to sell your B prints, some sellers who used the more tier 3/4 auction houses must feel gutted by how much money they have left on the table compared to what they would of got today. If you dont need the cash, wait and get it into the top auctions houses. If you need the cash, use one of the better B dealers out there. This market is only going to go from strength to strength, maybe not at the speed we've seen in 2020 but its solid. I think the big houses are a better bet for prices but harder to negotiate low sellers fees with, unless it is something special. They all have USP's, Phillips for example promote better whereas Christies will have a larger VHNWI list. Bonhams has a better reputation with Urban / Street. So horses for courses but agree with specialist dealers vs division two / three auction houses.

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by concrete jungle on Dec 4, 2020 11:02:50 GMT 1, Great result for the colour Trolleys too! I'm biased as it was my first B buy, but have always loved the image - the clean lines and block colour must appeal to my OCD tendencies! Often been seen as the poor cousin of signed Banksys (probably due to the edition size and fact it comes as B&W, Bethlehem etc) but will always be a favorite for me.....

That's a fantastic result for an unsigned Morons, beating out signed Donuts and signed Napalm in same auction. I wonder what a signed white Morons (ed 150) would go for based on this?

It looks like your bog standard u/s White Morons but unless I'm wrong, has gone for double the previous highest result.
What am I missing?

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by LJCal on Dec 4, 2020 13:26:55 GMT 1, The contemporary paintings early on in the auctions went crazy as well, muliple artist's records broken (Figgis, Wong, Toor and Chapline) . I bid on a couple at well above high estimates and didn't even come close in the end. The amount of money being spent in Asia on contemporary art is insane, all the big money bidders were either in China, Taiwan, or Japan. I think a number of European and North American collectors are getting priced out of the market for many artists including myself.

Its high or higher depending on auction, location, time of day, the weather. One thing is for sure, you dont use cr*p auction houses for Banksy prints.

Interesting to see how the HK results compare. Well I guess we know now ! That is a massive result for the Choose Your Weapon. What colour was it ? EDIT Was a yellow one. I wonder if the more sought after colors will fetch more, or if they all have their fans so all worth about the same ? Not been updated on banksy value yet. A Queue Jumper this month in Artcurial which will be interesting.

So some might jump on any opportunity rather than miss out completely.
I actually wonder how many people own their absolute favourite colour...

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by stillborncrisps on Dec 4, 2020 14:04:45 GMT 1, I wonder if the astronomical Choose Your Weapon result is due to unknowledgeable investors? On paper it says 1/25 which makes it look super rare, but in reality there were circa 450 of that print released in the various colourways?

theres quite a difference between colors so you cant lump em all together, and theyre always too low in general. while i am personally biased, this auctioned showed im not just making things up to suit me..
