Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by pr.yu on Dec 5, 2020 2:10:20 GMT 1, The contemporary paintings early on in the auctions went crazy as well, muliple artist's records broken (Figgis, Wong, Toor and Chapline) . I bid on a couple at well above high estimates and didn't even come close in the end. The amount of money being spent in Asia on contemporary art is insane, all the big money bidders were either in China, Taiwan, or Japan. I think a number of European and North American collectors are getting priced out of the market for many artists including myself.
Agree. Guess I'm put of the Figgis market.
Also, that Invader was a poor example of an Alias and still went for a good amount.

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by jp on Dec 5, 2020 2:16:54 GMT 1, Morons (POW) White Unsigned £90,680 / $121,512 That's a fantastic result for an unsigned Morons, beating out signed Donuts and signed Napalm in same auction. I wonder what a signed white Morons (ed 150) would go for based on this? I watched the auction and the Morons was the last banksy of the night and got those bids because of that. people that missed out on the previous prints then bid on that one. Oh the irony of a bunch of bidders clamoring to win the last print of the night, titled "Morons". It's the joke that just gets better as the auction results get higher.
On another note, it really seems that details of how the auction is run, not just the auction house, can make a difference of thousands, even tens of thousands of pounds for the seller.
Details like not ending all lots at the same time for an online auction, extending the auction for 15 minutes following a late bid, allowing easy access to bidding, time of day, and as we can now see, order of placement.

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by lv90210 on Dec 10, 2020 7:23:52 GMT 1, Guys, its so important you pick the right auction house to sell your B prints, some sellers who used the more tier 3/4 auction houses must feel gutted by how much money they have left on the table compared to what they would of got today. If you dont need the cash, wait and get it into the top auctions houses. If you need the cash, use one of the better B dealers out there. This market is only going to go from strength to strength, maybe not at the speed we've seen in 2020 but its solid. There must be some sellers of Banksy prints this morning wondering where it all went wrong...........

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by Graham H on Dec 15, 2020 15:50:36 GMT 1, First auction that has actually put realistic estimates on works.. rather than 25% of what they would go for.
Seem a little muted those results.. the seller of the GWRB will get the lowest seen for a while
Even the Harings were passed..
Auction has now started Banksys lots 20 & 25

This does seem low considering the recent results.
