I bought 2 tickets for The Boss and got picked so I like to think its maybe not as rigged as you think.

The edition size will likely be greater than x/40 (Boss) based on print size and purpose. The Boss was built around a show with in-person-purchased postcards being the prerequisite. I'm am no expert but I'd like to believe the timing of the release is built around the show's success but also raising awareness of current global conflicts. Ahab was a huge two-piece, expensive, x/20 print meaning only 60 released since H2O in 2019. Older prints of the projected size fall into the x/100, x/80, x/70 ranges.
For the artist, who is seemingly gaining traction, and fans this is a win-win.

If success means that he's recognized by the larger art world, collected by institutions, is included in group shows and reaches soaring auction prices, it doesn't seem like even close to succeeding.

I luckily got to fly to Paris and meet both Pejac and Max at the Waterline show. They were both very nice despite being inundated by us fans.
