Damien Hirst H10 • The Empresses, by klyde on Feb 7, 2022 12:04:21 GMT 1, Utterly pointless debating anything to do with future prices until the edition sizes are released.
The ones on Ebay clearly wont sell.
Ignore them.

Damien Hirst H10 • The Empresses, by Gunny on Feb 7, 2022 12:13:05 GMT 1, I don't know of any Hirst releases that have sold below cost, do you? Hirst is a big enough artist for his work to always sell above retail. At the very least, people will get their money back on the secondary sales. Lets revisit. Just to many flippers this time around My prediction is 2-4000 of each. And i also think even if there was 5000 of each, these will defo be worth more than people think. They are quality and quality wins every time.

Damien Hirst H10 • The Empresses, by vernaxley on Feb 7, 2022 14:45:13 GMT 1, They might settle at cost after some time, but they will drop a fair deal below cost before after an initial pump. Then they will drop, my estimate after 3 weeks time to around 2K, and then some of the big players might move in and try to get it up again - butbit will be hard this time around, there simply is to much on the market in a short timep. I don't know of any Hirst releases that have sold below cost, do you? Hirst is a big enough artist for his work to always sell above retail. At the very least, people will get their money back on the secondary sales. There is zero guarantee of getting what you paid back on secondary, even for Hirst. The more artworks/NFTs produced in this run, the lower the real value. If people are buying to flip - which they are - the value will depreciate even quicker. This whole thread is a pump and dump.

Totally agree. This is classic pump and dump - this time the dump will be at a low price

Totally disagree - you are 100% guaranteed to get your money back and make a profit on the Hirst Heni editions. Whether the edition size be 5000 or 15000. Even his less popular images will turn you a profit, these are far from the worst!
These are good long term holds, ignore the feeding frenzy now and sit tight - it was exactly the same with the Virtues!
Happy to offer anyone there money back on these, now and in the future - drop me a DM👌

At least 50% of buyers bought to flip so you're talking finding 1000s of buyers, above cost, on the secondary.
Completely different to The Virutes which are getting hung on walls.
Going to be a LOT of people eating their hats.

Damien Hirst H10 • The Empresses, by michaeldee on Feb 7, 2022 18:05:56 GMT 1, I've seen Hirst The Magnificent Seven go for less than retail many times, it's the 7 screenprinted ping pong balls, in a signed box, Gagosian was still selling them for £1k last year, but they pop up for less. Quite an old piece now, the balls get discoloured (so to speak), looks dated. That said I think these were originally invites, so maybe they were free, and Gagosian sold the remainder. The Mag 7 multiple was not an invite or free (but there is a single boxed pp ball invite for a different exhibition). 20 years ago anyone could walk into Gagosian and buy Mag 7 for about $100 at the front reception desk. They were available for months after his Theories show ended. Bought several back in the day. Mag7 value has definitely increased from original retail, just as all his signed multiples have....even the onion/dart piece.

That onion dart piece is not very good, I've seen a few on ebay over the years, with a fresh onion of course. Which brings up the old debate of is it the same piece of art, if you change the onion? Or replacing a rotting shark in The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living?

You are wrong LLR - ignore Virtues if you like, although that was heavily flipped. Look at the NHS charity prints, they were bought by flippers and increased many times in value, despite large edition sizes. Even Fruitful and Forever proved as good investments, and they were not great images.
Everyone who wants to turn a profit is GURANTEED to do so - and those that wish to hang a 1m x 1m signed Damien Hirst on there wall can do so, and at just over £3k that's a bargain in anyones book!

Damien Hirst H10 • The Empresses, by Londown 01 on Feb 7, 2022 19:57:07 GMT 1, ... in any case:
The choice of colour with these 5 prints is only fitting - I would say DH is consciously working within a tradition. The red is obviously derived from the purple dye that was exclusive to various imperial houses: I am particularly thinking of the Roman and Byzantine Emperors and their families (I could not speak of non-European dynasties). But from these models purple especially, but also red has maintained its connotation of imperial grandeur, power, wealth ...
This is Theodora (!) wearing hear imperial, i.e. purple, robe in a mosaic in Ravenna:
This is the Coronation Gospel of Charlemagne who tried to revive the idea of a Roman empire around 800:
And finally there is the red canopy of Louis XIV, ... you know

Damien Hirst H10 • The Empresses, by Atelier on Feb 7, 2022 20:10:23 GMT 1, Anyone know when The Empresses NFT’s will be minted and live on the Heni marketplace? I forget what Heni had said about this…. ?
The fact that The Empresses will be edition prints that also exist as exchangeable NFT’s is yet another variable experiment leading on from The Currency which as somewhat unique (NFT v Physical) painted pieces proved lucrative as NFT’s. My wild (easily could be wrong) guess with The Currency is the physicals will reign supreme in value over time once the exchange deadline is up.
You have to hand it to Heni - the concept of exchangeable NFT’s that can be NFT’s or exchanged for physical pieces over a 3 year window is pretty genius as it gives collectors flexibility. Not everyone wants to hang a work at time of purchase and some may never want to hang. That’s the very premise of art collecting.
Remembering the circus around The Currency NFT’s pricing last year makes for an interesting period when The Empresses hit the NFT second market. The edition sizes are going to be very interesting in how that unfolds. The comment about The Virtues being more wall friendly / desirable than The Empresses, I think is really inaccurate. I have a friend who hung two of The Virtues and whilst I like the imagery, I personally was a bit put off by the high gloss finish. I found them more beautiful as paintings.
Excited for all The Empresses buyers awaiting their prints. If you have the right space, these are cool pieces.

On another note, I visited the Heni Gallery today to take a look at the The print I chose: H10-4 Suiko, I must say the pictures do not do them justice, they are truly stunning in person! I chose Suiko because to me it just instantly said DH, I have always been a fan of his butterfly works, and the symmetry in this one is just perfect, I also liked it was named after the first female to rule Japan.
For anyone that has purchased one of these I'm sure you will not be disappointed, I know I wasn't! personally I can't wait to hang it on my wall, probably framed in a black box frame with white float mount, but I will see when it arrives.

Damien Hirst H10 • The Empresses, by Art Fan 2011 on Feb 7, 2022 20:29:29 GMT 1, Hi Guys On another note, I visited the Heni Gallery today to take a look at the The print I chose: H10-4 Suiko, I must say the pictures do not do them justice, they are truly stunning in person!
Good to hear! As always with Heni, the art itself will be of very good quality. This will lead to even more buyers regretting not picking one up!

Damien Hirst H10 • The Empresses, by Art Fan 2011 on Feb 7, 2022 20:29:50 GMT 1, How much glitter do you think was used in the production of these prints? Is it sealed some way or will flake off over time/touch?
Sealed = no flaking
