Visit NEW YORK πΊπ² Street Art, Galleries, Events, by nipper on Mar 16, 2014 10:19:33 GMT 1, Carnegie Deli if you like a LOT of meat in your sandwich and gargantuan cheesecake.
Draught 55 for some great craft beers and excellent food. The Ginger Man for more of the same. Both possibly child friendly but check.
Arturo's in Greenwich Village for stunning pizza. Opens at 4pm so don't go for lunch on a weekday.
Round the corner to Bleeker Street for a couple of good record shops - still have some 2013 RSD stuff available too.
Rainbow Music in the East Village for the experience in itself - vimeo.com/m/71501308 - and Paul's burgers over the road for a proper NYC burger joint. ( and the Physical Graffiti house round the corner if a Zep fan).
The High Line Walk for the views and if you walk North to South turn left when you get off to see a bunch of classic Nick Walkers.
Williamsburg for street art and hipsters in abundance and a massive ROA in a car park...and Brooklyn brewery...and the new Rough Trade store.
While you are there go to Rosamunde for a massive selection of sausages and some more craft beers.
And MoMA ...because you have to. Takes a good 2 hours to get round at pace. Double if you want to linger.
Cabs are cheap but do some walking as there is a lot to just stumble across and NYC is nothing if not fun.
Enjoy.

Visit NEW YORK πΊπ² Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Hairbland on Mar 30, 2014 23:21:52 GMT 1, The problem with the Buzzfeed piece you attached, other than being largely written by 20-somethings not knowing what NYC pizza is, is that while some of them "liked" the Chicago thing they ate if you pull out the Chicago native who loves Chicago pizza you are left with 3 people, one of which prefers NYC pizza and the other 2 while liking the Chicago thing both think it's not pizza, but more of a tomato pie or casserole.
So in retrospect it doesn't bolster your argument.
It's kind of an apples / oranges thing - pizza versus bread bowl of tomato sludge.

With a bit of Christian resurrection thrown in for good measure
