Visit NEW YORK ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Hairbland on Mar 16, 2022 16:04:38 GMT 1, For starters you'd enjoy spending a whole afternoon gallery-hopping in Chelsea. Between 19th St and 29th Street and 10th and 11th Ave is the biggest concentrations of galleries in New York. And if you go specifically on a Friday, and you're not all arted out by the evening, you can then head to the Whitney Museum nearby which is open late and Pay What You Wish 7-10pm (Fridays only) and will have the Whitney Biennial open by then. Pro tip: downloading the See Saw app is the easiest way to keep track of all of the art shows in the city. You can search by neighborhood, nearby, opening this week, or closing this week. You can also select the ones you want to see and it automatically adds them to a map, making it super easy to get around. Totally free. Game changer. ny.eater.com/ is always good to follow for restaurant recommendations (and cheap eats ny.eater.com/maps/best-inexpensive-affordable-restaurants-food-nyc)Avoid Times Sq. unless you're going to the theater, a protest, or checking out the Midnight Moment, which is a widely unknown public art project where all of the screens display artwork for 1-minute at the stroke of midnight. Sometimes it's pretty sick. In the past it's featured people like JR and Tracey Emin, and the one up for the month of march is particularly cool and makes the whole of Times Sq look like a computer glitch. Depending on how long you're staying in New York, if you're looking to get away for a day Dia:Beacon (a museum in Upstate New York in an old Nabisco factory) and Storm King Art Center (sculpture garden) are both pretty great. As a native NYโer these are great tips. In Chelsea a Cleon Peterson show opened last week, his first in NYC, not sure when it closes. Mamaโs Too! 105th-106th on Broadway makes incredible square slices, the cityโs food critics love it. Below Houston on Lafayette Street youโll find Supreme Carhardt WIP and more. 100 Mott street not far from there for Soup Dumplings, a must try I took an English band there they were fascinated and loved. If weather good a safe subway ride out to Coney Island nice, Coney Island Brewery out there. If weather sunny a walk in Central Park wonderful.
Williamsburgโs heyday largely 1997-2005, then the developers moved in followed by wealthy people who heard Williamsburg cool. The artists and musicians moved to Bushwick. I hear the original Robertaโs is still good, pizza and such, in Bushwick. Art Collectives, street art and more.
A water taxi to Brooklynโs Fulton Landing good for anytime - parks, little shops, ice cream, chocolate shops, what is sometimes ranked as Americaโs #1 pizza Julianaโs, and the best views of NYC - daytime great, dusk/night spectacular. Many like Greenwood Cemetary, many greats there, I think Basquiat, Boss Tweed, etc.
Also great is the Staten Island Ferry ride, Battery Park to Staten Island, take the next one back you are doing this just for the view, although a few blocks on Staten Island side Flagship Brewery, who make some fine craft beers.
Old Town Bar, on 18th street near Union Square, one of the oldest in city but not a tourist spot, great Bloody Mary, their Buffalo Wings have been rated Top 50 America and I agree, they made a Hatch Show print once celebrating 100th anniversary of their urinals, wish I had one!

Visit NEW YORK ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Hairbland on Mar 22, 2022 13:26:54 GMT 1, Charles Gabriel is a Harlem / NYC legend, Charles Pan Fried Chicken, long a Harlem fixture since 1990, has newly opened at 146 w 72nd and is some of the best fried chicken Iโve eaten, when he was up in Harlem my bud and I would go there, get the chicken and sides (Mac n Cheese, collard greens etc) and walk across the bridge to Yankee Stadium. A number of restaurants have been known to have him as a guest chef. Not far if at MOMA or Central Park. Iโll send some burger places, I love a good burger!

The afternoon has definitely not been spent looking at BA city breaks there whilst listening to โopen letter to NYC โ on repeat. Definitely not

Visit NEW YORK ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Hairbland on Mar 23, 2022 14:48:04 GMT 1, Hereโs some of the best burgers in NYC, many Top 10 for decades, Iโve enjoyed them all ๐๐๐!
Corner Bistro cash only, in biz since 1961, good beer good vibe. Your hands will smell like hamburger for days. The original PJ Clark's since 1881, Sinatra and Jackie O loved their Burgers. Peter Luger great, I think they only do the burger for lunch. JG Melรณn on all the lists, I havenโt been there in years. Burger Joint, pictured between PJ Clarkโs and JG Melon, hidden inside Parker Meridien also great! Different parts of city depending on where you are.

Visit NEW YORK ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by JAlternatiรณn on Mar 23, 2022 17:43:59 GMT 1, Roberta's Pizza in Brooklyn is an institution for the right reasons www.robertaspizza.com/
Would second (or third?) hanging out and if possible staying in Williamsburg. Easy to get to Manhattan but a much cooler vibe for my tastes.
Get some of Mike's hot honey from the convenience stores, it will change your life mikeshothoney.com/
Walk as much as you can, subway is great for long distances, Taxis in manahttan are relentlessly slow, but walking you can look up and down and take everything in. I average about 15 miles a day when there usually.
Nitehawk cinema is a great way to fill an evening, they will bring you beer in your seat throughout the film. nitehawkcinema.com/
I loved the food in koreatown, worth checking reviews as i think there is a mixed bag. My favourite place is high up in a skyscraper and great value compared to how expensive it looks. Amazing food and views over the Empire State Building - www.gaonnurinyc.com/
There used to be a cool art trail in the DUMBO area of Brooklyn, but last time I was there gentrification was happening en masse, so no idea if that is still there
Lastly.... the cookies here will require queuing, but worth it - levainbakery.com/
Be fascinated to know how much NYC residents agree or disagree with the above....

Robertaโs is great, but as I can attest after 5 days in Bogota one never has enough time for everything. Personally I think BBurg a bit over, I myself was looking to buy a place there 22 years ago when it was cutting edge and everyone (except me) was wearing a trucker hat. However, there are still some great things going on, although as I mentioned earlier the artists and musicians left 10 years ago. But one could easily spend oneโs entire trip in BBurg (although that would be a shame!). Levain Bakery cookies are out of this world, they have a few locations now lines not so bad. Nitehawk great, but if on a short trip I would go for a burger or a pizza before Koreatown (which is very good, btw). Also some amazing Italian restaurants around.
I agree as to getting around - print a subway map to become familiar and start to organize your trip. Walking and subway are how I get around, I donโt own a car. Biking may be possible also, lots of bike lanes.

Visit NEW YORK ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by flatcolor on Mar 24, 2022 5:33:15 GMT 1, A few things I've noticed that no one has mentioned.
Bronx: Tuff City Tattoo. They usually have hand painted canvas' from the likes of Ces, Serve and other heavy hitters in the graff game for reasonable prices. South Bronx: WallWorks www.wallworksny.com/about
Soho: The Scrap Yard. (Canal St and West Broadway) An absolute NYC institution for graffiti supplies, magazines, markers, paint, t-shirts and even hand painted works and hand painted scale subway trains. You never know who you'll run into there, as there's always writers hanging around. If you're posh, you can stay at the Soho Grand next door, it's a great hotel and centrally located to a lot of great stuff in Tribeca, Soho and Chinatown. Must have food in Soho: Jeju Noodle Bar. It's authentic, reasonably priced and has a Michelin Star. No brainer if you're into that style of food
Williamsburg: I agree, with others. It's pretty played out. I don't mind the Turkeys Nest shout out earlier, it's a decent dive bar, but trust me, don't get that gross ass frozen margarita. I would highly suggest grabbing a Sicilian slice to go from Anna Maria at Bedford and 7th though.
East Village: Eric Firestone Gallery. Futura works on display during April
Enjoy your trip!
